I found this on a site and wanted to add it here
When you use numbers in ritual, you can use them to decide the amount of candles you use, the amount of times you chant something, or if you're in a group setting, how many people you have in your circle... you just have to use your imagination.
So here are the numbers and their meanings...

ONE: God, ambition, self, individuality, independence, skill and talent.

TWO: Goddess, the other, partnership, union, intuition, mystery and wisdom.

THREE: Magical child, social, creativity, birth and communication.

FOUR: Foundation, house, temple, earth, work, restriction, material wealth.

FIVE: Change, death, cycles, elements, creative expression, freedom and travel.

SIX: Beauty, harmony and marriage of opposites.

SEVEN: Solitude, sacrifice and mysticism.

EIGHT: Power, spirit and earth coming together, material success. As above, so below, ond.

NINE: Completion, healing, wholeness, humanity and service.

TEN: End, completion of a cycle and moving into a new one.

Honey Jar to Win a Court Case
Obtain either a photo of the judge that will be ruling your case or a business card that he has personally handed to you. On the back of it write the judge's name 7 times. Turn it 90 degrees clockwise and write your name across his 7 times. Around this block of text write "Rule in my favor" in one continual line (never lifting your pen from the paper) forming an unbroken circle around your crossed names. Dress the photo with a 5-spot pattern (like the 5 on the side of a die) with Court Case Oil. Fold the photo in half toward you, turn it 1/4 turn clockwise and fold it in half again, and repeat that action one more time.

Obtain a honey jar, and push the dressed photo (or business card) into the honey. When you withdraw your honey covered finger state "As this honey tastes sweet to me, so shall you find me sweet and rule in my favor!" Add in a piece of Little John to Chew (Court Case Root), some Sage and a pinch of tobacco. Cap off the honey jar and pray hard over it for the judge to rule in your favor. Call out to him, to his spirit, and claim by the righteous name of God that you be vindicated in court and that the judge's gavel will fall in favor of your case.

Dress a brown offertory candle with Court Case Oil and affix it to the top of the honey jar. Allow that to burn all the way down, letting the wax drip all over the jar. Interpret the behavior of the flame and the wax as signs for how your work is going. Burn a total of 7 candles on that jar to start. You can burn more of varying colors to affect the court and the judge as needed.

Bottle Spells

A prosperity spell fixed and prepared in a specially hand-painted bottleBottle Spells are spells that a hoodoo rootworker worked within a glass bottle. One well known form of bottle spell is the old English "witch bottle." Dating back to the 1600s, these are bottles filled with nails, hair, and urine that were buried beneath doorsteps or placed up the chimney to keep away witches. Similar witch bottles are still made and used in contemporary hoodoo practice.

As prepared by spiritual root doctors, bottle spells may contain a variety of curios such as herbs, minerals, petition papers, and personal concerns. Depending on what they contain and how they are prepared, they can be used to cast magical spells for a wide variety of purposes, including love drawing, money drawing, court case and legal work, blessing, Hot Footing bad neighbors or co-workers, protection, binding enemies, breaking up couples, and ensuring peaceful home situations.

The type of bottle that your rootworker chooses is both a matter of personal inclination and tradition. It is highly traditional for bottle spells made that are intended for Hot Footing and break-up work to be crafted within used hot sauce bottles, and for binding and gossip-stopping spells to be worked inside used vinegar bottles. Conjure doctors who have artistic talents may also create hand-decorated bottles for their clients, using paint, decoupage, gilding, and fabric applique, or glitter. This is especially true when the spell-casting that the conjure doctor is performing is of a positive or protective nature.

When consecrating bottle spells, some workers speak a prayer or curse over each curio that they insert into the bottle, as they deem appropriate to the client's needs. They may then burn a small candle in the bottle's mouth prior to the work being sealed and again prayed over or cursed, as needed.

The finished bottle may be sent to the client for use on a home altar or for burial or placement in a freezer, or disposal at a crossroads or in a river, as instructed, or it may be retained by the rootworker on his or her working altar for continued and ongoing spiritual spell-casting and candle-work. To keep a bottle spell on the altar "awake" and working, your conjure doctor may shake the bottle rhythmically once a day as a cadenced prayer or invocation is sung or spoken aloud.

Jar Spells

A jar spell in which incense is being burned before completion and sealing.Jars are similar to bottles, but the necks are wider, allowing for the insertion of larger items. Mason jars, canning jars, and jam jars are the types most often seen in practical use, but any type of jar will do.
The best known jar spells are honey jars, which hoodoo rootworkers employ when they want to sweeten people and situations on behalf of a client, and vinegar jars, which conjure doctors may prepare to sour a client's enemies or foes, thereby causing them to fuss and fight with one another.

Instead of burning a candle in the mouth of the jar, as one might do with a bottle spell, the root doctor typically burns candles on the lid after the jar is fixed, sealed, and prayed over. Some hoodoo rootworkers keep prepared jar spells on their altar for their clients, charging a fee for continued weekly prayers and candle burning Some conjure workers prepare jar spells for their clients with instructions for use and a supply of candles, and the clients then work the jars in their own homes, which may include placing them in a freezer, or disposing of them at a crossroads or in a river.

Potted Plant Spells

Potted citrus trees make excellent doorway guardians when planted in magically fixed and prepared containersWhen a candle cannot be burned on a honey jar, due to the need to keep one's work private, it is quite common for the root doctor to prepare a sweetening spell inside a hollowed-out red apple or red onion, place the loaded and prepared apple or onion in the bottom of a flower pot, fill the pot with soil, and plant an herb, flower, or fern in the pot. The potted plant is thus a container spell.
Potted plants are easy to use, under the proper circumstances. For instance, if there is gossiping on your job between co-workers and managers and you feel that you are getting frozen out of the social arena and that the gossiping may have a negative impact on your chances for career advancement, then you can ask your hoodoo rootworker to prepare a protective, sweetening, gossip-stopping, boss-fixing, and crown-of-success type empowered, fixed, and prepared talisman or enchanted jewelry to wear or a mojo hand to carry on the job, but you can also significantly increase the impact of such work if also back it up with a secretly fixed office-friendly container spell of some kind that will continue to work its magic even when you are not in the room. A potted plant spell is a common and extremely effective holder for this kind of work, as is a fixed and prepared family photo in a frame.

The species of plant your rootworker selects for the container, and the instructions that will be given to you about the container's placement are important aspects of the work. Citrus plants, for instance, are associated with spiritual cleansing, road opening spells, and cutting away of warding off negative influences, so a prepared spell in the base of a potted citrus plant that is situated by the entrance to a home will act as a powerful guardian and will spiritually purify those who enter. Contrariwise, cayenne pepper is used to hot foot and send unwanted people away, so a potted plant spell prepared for protection and hot footing of a bad neighbor might take the form of a cute ornamental chili pepper plant in a pot, with the spellwork contained out of sight. Such a plant could also be used in an office setting, to ward off disliked co-workers.

Box Spells

A box spell made of mirrors turned inward to reverse and bind evil spells onto the woman who sent them to a rootworker's clients; the final mirror, which will form the mirror box lid, is at leftThe most famous box spells are mirror-boxes, which are used to confine an evil-doer and reflect and reverse all curses back to the sender, and coffin spells, which are used to curse an enemy to the grave. Both mirror box spells and coffin spells may be buried in a cemetery after they are prepared, with petitions for the work to be held under thr ground by spirits of the dead. These works are usually prepared for clients by an experienced root doctor, working by the light of a black candle.

Sweetening or souring spells may be worked with boxes as well. For instance, a rootworker may use a box of sugar instead of a honey jar as a container for a sweetening spell.

Mojo Bags and Conjure Hands

A mojo bag -- also called a conjure hand, gree-gree bag, toby, nation sack, trick bag, wanga, or roots bag, is a small contained spell traditionally prepared by a spiritual worker for a client and covered with red flannel or chamois leather. Typically, the mojo bag is worn on the body or placed inside the home or car where it cannot be seen.

Red Flannel Mojo Bag containing Roots, Herbs, and MineralsMojo hands, trick bags, gris-gris, jomos, conjure sacks, tobies, jack balls, and nation sacks are charm-spells that are made, prepared, and fixed into a small bag or ball that clients can carry on their person.
Hoodoo practitioners make mojo bags and conjure hands for clients who are in need of good luck, a happier love-life, more money, protection from evil, increased personal power, a better job, or other improvements in life. Conjure doctors and hoodoo rootworkers who craft mojos and jacks for their clients are often called "toby makers."

Regional names for mojo bags, or for specific types of mojos, include gree-gree or gri-gri (a Bantu word typically spelled gris-gris by those who come from France), mojo hand, conjure bag, roots bag, conjure hand, toby, trick bag, jomo, and nation sack. In Haiti, the usual name for this sort of charm bag among those of African descent is a wanga, oanga, or wanger. They are also called pakets.

The most common covering for a mojo is red flannel, because red is considered a lucky colour for a large number of life's conditions. Other colours of flannel or cloth may be used instead, including green (for money), blue (for peacefulness), or white (for blessings and safety). Brocade drawstring bags (sometimes called "Chinese luck bags") and chamois (or "shammy") leather bags are also popular with gri-gri makers. Many spiritual practitioners sew a amulet or charm on the outside of the bag to signify its purpose.

What's inside a Mojo Bag?

A custom mojo for marriage.
A hand-written petition for lottery wining, written on gold-foil Chinese joss paper, with black cat hair, an alligator foot, a silver dime, bone dice, and a nutmeg, that will go into the making of a lucky gambler's mojo bag
A Devil Hand Mojo being prepared
Fixing and preparing a mojo bag with seven red candles
A money mojo prepared with a Chinese cash coin, ready for dedication on a money altar
Preparing a mojo hand for love with a name paper, red candles, Dixie Love oil, roses, and love-drawing roots
Sam "Lightnin" Hopkins, composer and performer of the famous blues song "Mojo Hand"From the outside, the Mojo is a small bag, often made of red flannel cloth or soft chamois leather and tied with a drawstring, but when you look inside, you will find that it is a type of contained spell or magic charm, containing botanical, zoological, and/or mineral curios, petition papers, and the like, which have been selected, hand-blended, prayed over, and set working to accomplish the type of magical task that the root doctor has prescribed for the client.
In addition to herbs, roots, and minerals, some of the more common spiritual ingredients found in conjure hands include name-papers, written petitions or prayers, magical seals, talismans or charms, personal concerns such as hair or fingernail clippings, lucky coins, and lucky dice. It is a common practice to include an odd number of items in the bag, but this is not a hard-and-fast rule.

How the Mojo Hand is Fixed and Prepared for the Client
After the mojo hand is assembled, the rootworker will fix and prepare it for you. As with all contained spells, there are many individual ways that conjure doctors perform this rite, including breathing into the mojo bag, smoking it in incense, passing it over a candle flame, and praying over it.

The tying of the bag is an important part of its making, as this keeps within it the spirit whose aid is being sought. In addition, a small talisman or charm may be sewn on the outside of the bag.

Once fixed and prepared, the toby is "fed" to keep it working, generally with a liquid, such as a perfume, an anointing oil, or whiskey.

When your rootworker fixes your conjure hand and sends it to you, you will be instructed on how to use it, how to pray over it, and how to keep it fed with a few drops of any of the above liquids, or, in some cases, a drop of your urine.

How to Use Your Mojo
Once you get your mojo, you should keep it out of sight -- and especially out of the range of touch -- of others. A mojo is typically worn by a person under the clothes, for it is said that if someone touches your mojo bag, its luckiness will be "killed." When you are not carrying your conjure bag, you can keep it hidden away somewhere safe.

In many cases, upon receiving your mojo bag you will need to personalize it -- that is, you will need to add an appropriate personal concern to the bag, dress it with oil, whisky, Hoyt's Cologne, or another appropriate liquid, and smoke it in incense. In some cases along with a personal concern the client is asked to add their petition as well. Directions for this process of personalizing your bag should be provided to you by your worker. Feeding the bag -- dabbing it with liquid and in smoke, speaking to to it, and praying over it -- is a ritual that most folks do on their bags once a week to keep them working.

Mojo Hands are Made for Many Conditions and Situations

Southern-style mojo hands can be carried for a number of reasons, including to draw love or friendship, to bring good luck or success in gambling and other money matters, or to protect the bearer from evil or crossed conditions. A mojo bag can also be prepared for use in more nefarious spell-craft, such as to render a man impotent except when with his spouse by tying his nature.

One fun way to understand that are made for all sorts of purposes is to check out the references to mojo bags in African American blues music:

Good Luck: In "Spider's Nest Blues" by Hattie Hart and the Memphis Jug Band, Hart wants to go to New Orleans to get her toby (mojo) "fixed" because she is "having so much trouble" -- the mojo brought her good luck and its power is wearing off, as witnessed by the "bad luck" she is having.

Domination in Love: In "Mojo Hand" by Sam Lightnin' Hopkins, the singer complains about a woman who is "always raising sand" (causing arguments and fights) and he wants to get a mojo hand so that the women will "come under [his] command" -- in other words, he wants to rule, control, and dominate a woman instead of being the target of her bickering.

Protection of a Love Affair: In "Louisiana Hoo Doo Blues" by Ma Rainey, the mojo is protective of an established love relationship and the singer is going to Louisiana to get a mojo hand because she's "gotta stop these women from taking my man."

Luck in Gambling and Games of Chance: In "Little Queen of Spades" by Robert Johnson, the woman has a mojo and uses it to gamble at cards and win and the mojo explains her otherwise inexplicable winning streak: "everybody says she's got a mojo, 'cause she's been using that stuff."

Regaining a Lover from a Rival: In "Hoodoo Hoodoo" by John Lee Sonny Boy Williamson I, the mojo is used to break up a menage a trois: "I'm goin' down into Louisiana and buy me another mojo hand, all because I got to break up my baby from lovin' this other man."

Raising a Fuss: In "Mojo Boogie" by J. B. Lenoir, the narrator is given a jack (mojo) by his aunt but doesn't know how to use it: "I got one jack, sure is crazy / My aunt forgot to teach me, just how to operate it / I went to a night club, I was squeezing it tight / I believe that's the cause of them people's start to fight." The mojo in this case causes people to quarrel.

Ruling and Controlling a Lover: In "Hoodoo Lady Blues" by Arthur Crudup, the mojo is again protective of a relationship by causing a break-up with an outside lover. The narrator asks, "please give me a hoodoo hand; I wanna hoodoo this woman of mine, I believe she's got another man." As with Lightnin' Hopkins, what bothers the man is not sexual; rather it is the woman's argumentativeness: "Now, she squabbles all night long, she won't let me sleep / Lord, I wonder what in the world this woman done done to me."

Sexual Power: In several songs -- notably "Scarey Day Blues," "Talkin' to Myself," and "Ticket Agent Blues," all by Blind Willie McTell -- a woman has "got a mojo and she's tryin' to keep it hid." The hidden mojo is a metaphor for her hidden genitals and the male singer says that he's "got something to find that mojo with." The bag or purse-like mojo symbolizes female genitalia, and in this sexualized sense, mojos are more often associated with women than with men. In fact, it is interesting to note that the famous song "I've got my mojo working but it just don't work on you" was not intended by its composer, Preston Foster, as a song for Muddy Waters, who made it famous, for, in fact, the first recording of that song was by a woman, Ann Cole.

Doll Babies, Voodoo Dolls, and Poppets

Doll-babies, dollies, voodoo dolls, and poppets are names given to a variety of figural images constructed by hoodoo rootworkers and intended to represent human beings upon whom a magical spell is to be cast or for whom spiritual work is to be performed. (The word "voodoo" in this case does not refer to the African Diasporic religion of Vodoun; it is simply a common name that was long ago applied to this style of doll.)

Hand-Made and Stuffed Doll-Babies

A red hand-stuffed doll-baby prepared for coercive love magicThere are basically two kinds of hand-made doll babies used in hoodoo -- those that are personalized by attaching things to the outside and those that are hand-stuffed.

Things applied to the outside of a doll include a photograph or the hair of the target glued onto the head of the doll or a figural candle that represents the person. Things stuffed inside a doll can include an array of personal concerns, herbs, roots, minerals, and talismanic items.

The two styles of doll may also be combined, as in the case of a hand-stuffed doll-baby made of simple cloth, to which a photo of the target person's face is glued, or a figural candle to which a photo is glued, but which is also carved with words and hollowed out at the base and loaded with personal concerns and herbs.

An extremely personal form of hand-made doll can be crafted for a client by a rootworker who sews it from remnants of the discarded clothing of the the target person, and stuffs it with herbs, incense powder, and petitions. No matter how it is made, the hand-stuffed doll-baby functions both as a poppet or image of the target and as a container spell

Toy Dolls and Commercial Dolls as Poppets

Baby Doll being named and baptized for a long distance infertility bathing ritual.Commercial baby-dolls or toy dolls, as well as ceramic figurines, are often prepared by experienced hoodoo practitioners as doll-babies or voodoo dolls on behalf of clients. Like hand-made dolls, commercial baby-dolls, toy dolls, and ceramic figurines may be dressed in clothing sewn from scraps of the target's clothing or stuffed with herbs and roots. When properly fixed and prepared, they can create strong and long lasting protection, enhance ongoing love work, and aid clients in matters of prosperity, protection, and healing.
Plastic or ceramic dolls are selected by many hoodoo rootworkers and spiritual practitioners when they are to performing a long-distance uncrossing or spiritual cleansing bath to remove crossed conditions and bad luck on behalf of a client or the client's selected target. When undertaking long-distance bathing of this type, some rootworkers use a plastic doll that can have the head removed and reattached. The spiritual practitioner will stuff the doll with herbs, roots, curios, photos, name papers and other objects to personalize the doll to the target, then name and baptize it before the bathing work is performed. Bathing a doll-baby in this manner can take as long as thirteen days to complete, the same length of time that a hoodoo practitioner might devote to an in-person client who requires a full uncrossing bathing ritual. After the work is completed, the doll may be retained by the rootworker for future use, if necessary, or it may be ritually disassembled in a respectful and grateful manner.

A vintage ceramic figurine of a small brown dog fixed and prepared with a pet's hair and protection herbs arouses no suspicions of spell-work when displayed on a knick-knack shelf. The specific styles of commercial doll that a hoodoo conjurer uses in spell casting for a client will depend on the nature of the work and the rootworker's personal aesthetics. Classic associations with certain types of dolls lend themselves to specific work, such as Ken and Barbie dolls for love spells or gothic "dead dolls" for crossing and cursing spells.

Hoodoo rootworkers who perform protection work or blessing spells on behalf of pets may choose to work with a hollow ceramic figurine that closely resembles the client's beloved animal companion. Such figurines are usually hollow, with a hole in the bottom, enabling the spiritual practitioner to load the statue with personal concerns and protective, blessing, or healing herbs as required. The figurine will then be named and baptized for the animal. Once the work is completed, the figurine may be retained or, at the client's request, it may be given or sent to the client, where it can be displayed on a knick-knack shelf or mantelpiece, with no one the wiser that it is now actually a powerful container spell.

Linking the Doll to the Target

A handmade doll baby stuffed with herbsAs the rootworker crafts the doll, it is prayed over, sometimes with every stitch. Upon completion the practitioner gives it a name, baptizes it, causes it to be linked to the target, and commands it to follow all instructions given to it. What is told to the doll will be heard by the target. What is done to the doll will be done to the target. Wherever the doll is sent, the target must go.

Working with the Doll

Once the doll has been linked to the target, the rootworker will proceed to the actual work of spell-casting on the doll, which may include actions such as blessing with a spiritual bath, binding or restraining with cods or string, sticking with pins to cause pain, or burial in a coffin to bring about death.

When figural candles serve as dollies they are often hollowed out at the base and loaded with personal concerns of the person to whom they are linked. After having been prepared, they may treated exactly as regular dolls would be handled, but the rootdoctor also has the extra option of choosing to finish the spell work by burning them as candle-dolls.
