I have been combining Tiger Eye with Jade, Amber and Citrine lately. I am not really sure why, but it is nice so far. haha Very Happy

What is the lowdown on why Tiger Eye is sometimes magnetic and other times not? I understand each piece will have various concentrations of its base materials - but there seems to be more to it, or maybe I am just looking for more(ala 23/Pi hahhaaha)

Is Tiger Eye really 'asbestos'? And will excessive handling cause harm?

I also read its optical qualities are almost identical to single-crystal quartz.

Isn't asbestos a synthetic compound? If you look at strands of asbestos under a microscope, I doubt very much that tiger eye contains it.

Your combination of jade, citrine and tiger eye sound familiar to what I have learnt in a book on crystals. Various combinations attract different outcomes. I have not heard of what properties amber possesses though?

Asbestos breaks down into iron oxide and then silica. Asbestos is a natural silicate mineral and found in many composites it seems. The variances in magnetism are due to the iron oxide concentrations.

Amber is said to have electrostatic, magnetic, absorb pain, alter time and encourage positive outcomes.

Obsidian is a bit more rare, but still easy to find. Tiger Eye is very common. Any new age shop that has crystals of any type will most likely have both of those. Avoid "rock" shops as they are all SOOOO expensive.

Tiger eye does avert the evil eye and prevent eye disease. It also helps a person gain insight into their own faults and to think clearly.
Amber is good for your throat and speaking. Attracts spiritual forces, relieves grief and melancholy. Brings success/good fortune and brings greater awareness of inner self especially in conjunction with the tiger eye.
