I and along with other members of my paranormal research group have tried this on location. We have had some interesting recordings in the past. However, I believe most of it is self suggestion, something that sounds like a rumble to one person will sound like a few lucid words to another, we could argue that the later had a form of clairaudience.
Here's an interesting experiment. Run a tape recorder in your home when you are certain no one is going to be there and play it back later. Some people have even heard disembodied people having full conversations while they were not there. In another experiment, you could run a tape recorder while you are sleeping, I personally have heard many things on the cusp of sleep mainly my name being shouted. You may even get some subconscious insights from your sleep talk, I have been known to speak Hebrew, and I didn't know a word of it, although I have just started to learn. |

EVP is VERY real! I suggest you read Konstantin Raudive's Book: "Breakthrough: An Amazing Experiment in Electronic Communication With the Dead" (if you can find it) or Peter Bander's Book, entitled, "Carry on Talking: How Dead Are The Voices?"
Raudive's Staff produced a phonograph record in England of examples of spirit voice recordings in the early 1970's. And I was able to record one of my own Spirit Guides on an ordinary cassette tape and I myself was invited as a Guest on the "Psychic Scene" Radio Program on WHWH in Princeton, NJ to discuss EVP on the air.
Although some of Raudive's huge library of recordings were dismissed by experts as "spurious signals", most of the recordings cannot be debunked. Author Peter Bander in particular was shocked to hear his own mother speak to him, years after her passing!
There are persistent rumors that Thomas Edison was working on an invention to communicate with the dead (others say Edison was merely joking when he suggested it). Additionally, Nicola Tesla apparently built a successful "psychic" radio receiver which supposedly was tuned to 100 Hertz (not far from the frequencies that the human brain generates naturally). As an electronics engineer I have every reason to think that such a communications instrument can be built. It is not a question of "if", but simply when! |

| very good point on the psychic receiver Derestanne. I have a keen interest in electronics and am always working on a number of projects, perhaps we should brainstorm some ideas? I did see an image somewhere of teslas psychic receiver, I'm not sure if it was related to the image of him sitting next to a large coil. I believe the television was stumbled upon by accident whilst trying to create a device to communicate with the dead. An old cathode ray TV can be converted to produce visual signals from the aether. |

xxxx,
I'm curious to know your information source on a connection between communication with spirits and the invention of television.
Although Radio Corporation of America (RCA) has always tried to grab all of the credit for inventing television, the real pioneer was a young man named Philo Farnsworth, who beat Russian inventor Vladimir Zworykin in the race to create an all electronic TV system. This is Farnsworth's story on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philo_Farnsworth
This Wiki story does not reveal that Farnsworth once said he got the idea for an electronic raster by watching his father plow farm fields. So Farnsworth imagined a horizontal electronic scanning line moving zig zag from top to bottom of a TV screen and Viola! That is how it came to be in TV receivers! I read this story in Popular Communications Magazine many years ago.
Incidentally, if RCA had been more willing to concede that Farnsworth has a superior system then the world might have had commercial television perhaps as early as 10 or 15 years before the Chicago Worlds Fair demonstration of 1939. Instead, RCA made life a living hell for Farnsworth with legal challenges and delaying tactics in Court that dragged on for many miserable years. |

I am afraid I cannot link directly to any source as I took note of a few years back. However, it may be stored on a DVD which is currently gathering dust, I will have to check it out.
It seems to be a recurring theme that those in authority seek to quickly dismiss new inventions as nonsense one, only has to look at the greats works of Tesla to see how he was hounded, and it continues to this day. The same is also true within academic science. |
