Guys this is my own thinking and theory. so pls give your comments.
Lets take a example of sindrela(not sure about spelling).When we are child we read this story and start to believe that its true.And as a child we are more convienced that its true whether our parents say no.And i still believe that all are true.So now if a lot of children are believing that means the law of attraction should come here.So beacous of the intense belief in these stories makes it happen(may be in our universe or in parallel).But wait it is possible that it may happen with only one child,i mean only he experience it.But beacous of a lot of children and there beliefs the universe has created a different world for these fairy-tells.I am not joking its true.But here comes the problem that how to enter in this new world.For this you also need strong belief and manifestation.but children have more chances to encounter in this new world.But from strong belief we can also do it.
And another interestin thing is this that whenever you will enter in this world.The story starts from that time in respect of you.We can call this world a parralel universe.

well in the original version of cinderella there wasnt a happy ending and the same goes for many other fairy-tales you should look up the brothers grimm tale
and as for your question they were made up to teach kids how to behave not to lies so on and so fourth but with real life possiblities so the kids could relate to it
take cinderella any one can have a stepmother and not everyone likes taking care of other ppl kids so the stepmother is going to be mean and if you add the age of the father then yes the likeyhood that the step mother may have her own kids are more the possible and every mother wants the best for their own so that adds facts to the story
so yes it can be true

I am thinking little different from you.I mean i think that the universe has created a new world(parallel world) for these tells.
I personaly think that if there are parallel universe exists(yes they exists) than they may be a world of our dreams or our thinking, our thoughts ,our beliefs and fairy tells.
