On an excursion through civil war battle sites, I drove to Chickamauga, one of the civil war's bloodiest battles. Upon my arrival I could see, using my interdimensional sight, several areas still in the throe's of battle. I did not become involved as in the Andersonville event (See Corridor of Transition article), but merely invited those who I encountered to the light. Most were receptive, appreciative and accepted the opportunity to move on.
As I began touring the area, I came upon a confederate presentation of small arms and artillery. Almost immediately I began to experience deep seated emotions, feelings of comradery, loyalty and a sense of belonging as I stood and watched them. I had these same feelings many times in my youth when thoughts of the South came to mind. When the demonstration had ended, I continued driving through the park stopping at historical markers where silent cannons stood as monuments to the bloody past.
A short time after completing the tour through the park I found myself once again at the arms demonstration area where another presentation was about to begin. As I walked toward the participants, I stopped abruptly. These were not Southern troops, they were Union! The emotions and feelings which came over me were unmistakably those of anger, mistrust and resentment, even hate. I had much difficulty with these feelings and attitudes regarding the blue and gray.
I knew this problem had to be resolved because I have had these feelings toward government for many years. Sitting down under a nearby tree I called upon my Source for answers. I now felt open and receptive. Source began...”Are these not the feelings you have had about your present day government for many years? Know that the reasons for your travel to these places is twofold. One, to help those unable to transition, and secondly, to recognize those emotions which have been a great hindrance to your growth for many years. I was then presented a vision depicting one of the reasons I harbored these feelings of anger and resentment.
A great multitude of confederate soldiers began charging up a hill toward Union entrenchments at the top. While observing the scene that surrounded me, I suddenly saw myself among the charging troops, immersed in fear and anger, on the way to removing the invading army from southern soil.
As we advanced, many of my friends and companions were shot and blown to bits in the thunderous bursts of canon fire. On my right was a young lad barely in his teens. Suddenly he fell, shot through the head. Momentarily I stopped and knelt beside him filled with sorrow and compassion. Leaning over him I could hardly contain my emotions, for it was my very own brother. Instantly I became even more enraged and determined to kill the enemy. What right did these Federals have to invade, rape, burn our homes, and now kill my brother.
The vision slowly faded and after a time I was able to begin letting go of these emotions held in my consciousness. I thanked Source for this very meaningful revelation and sat there a few moments thinking about what had happened as the negative feelings begin to leave. I then began walking once again toward the Union demonstration. Upon reaching their position, I actually felt a sense of kinship with these men through a better understanding, and was more at peace with myself.
Through years of spiritual growth I have gained much knowledge and understanding. I know that all is in divine order and all is by choice. Experience is a learning, a reality created to remember who I AM and create who I want to be.
Although still working with this challenge, I have let go of much and have enabled myself to move forward with life. The civil war, a very passionate and revealing experience.
