Well to tell you the truth this is the first time i saw the word Magick actually being used by so many people so i just wanted to ask why not use Magic?
At first i thought it was a spelling mistake...but obviously not......
also well can i please know the difference between practicing magick and increasing your abilities......also does this magick involve the using of spirits to do what you want ...sorry i know i am an idiot but well i really wanna know the answers
(plus the only other place i heard abt 'magick' is in Angie Sages series Septimus Heap (if any of you know abt it)

actually no they are not the same thing at all.
Magic refers to stage tricks (cards,pulling rabbit out of hats,etc) and illusions.
Magick refers to art and science of causing effect on the physical & non-physical reality using simple or complexed gestures, uttered words, seemingly illogical actions, herbs, incantations, potions, mental work, spirits and more... |

Thats cool thanks for sharing but I maintain what I said..
Personally for me I do not consider radionics as Magic (unless you want to degrade Radionics).. I consider it Casually Engineering Reality...which you can mingle with Occult Magick if you so desire.. You just have to know what you are doing.. They can be combined...but lets not stray...
Trying to encompass Magic as a term to broadly describe all metaphysical things is not accurate..
Real Old School Magickians know that saying they practice "Magic" is totally wrong anyway.. It does not even feel right to use the term Magic..It feels like an insult to real Occult adepts like myself and others..
As for your comment about Imagination... I know all that already... but still I would never consider Imagination as "Magic"... Imagination is a process of the Mental realm... Mental Influence...not "Magic"...and yes its very powerful as well..I know all that...
Magic and Magick are quite different... It's not as simple as trying to classify it all together... Yes Magic exists..but only on the stages of those master illusionists.. Pulling out rabbits out of hats... Disappearing acts,etc...It is all tricks!! Nothing more...No real influence of the underlying reality of things... Don't degrade Magick by loosely trying to defend the term 'Magic' |

Well, personally I do not see electricity or magnetism as magic either. 
Saying something is not 'real' because we cannot explain it just sounds silly. As I have posted many times, believing in 'bacteria' was heresy and witchcraft not that long ago. It was also not that long ago that in USA 'black' people could not drink out of the same drinking fountain as 'white' people. Same with gravity and just about every other "scientific fact" muttered by the lab rats everyday. In ten years we might look back and think "what idiots, they thought chi/orgone/elan vital/mana/prana was fake!". Then we will all have a good laugh at ourselves. haha Either way, its all a matter of semantics and personal definition of the words we use. Stay positive and keep an open mind - thats a route start for me at least! |

Totally! Stay positive and open mind is the way to go.
I would add that I do agree alot with magister. I think he is trying to gear towards the use of the Imagination to perform Mental Magick...not Magic mind you!
Old school adepts do perfect many ways of mentally using Imagination to perform powerful influencing Magick..and all while tapping to Universal or Elemental forces...It's not new..Nothing under the sun and moon is new.
Quantum Physics is already proving what the ancients said were true... So we are getting there anyway. |
