Hi there!
I can help you out from time to time with Tarot-related questions and information. I have a thread "Rachel's Random Tarot Topics" where occaisonally I'll post some interpretations of cards or bits of info I have come across or offer advice to new Tarot readers. If you got questions, I can probably find you the answers. I have been doing Tarot for about 16 years now.
As far as card interpretations go, you will see a variety of meanings or interpretations for each card and for each deck. Each artist that produces a deck of cards, creates images, patterms, and symbols based on their creative inspiration, personal style, intuitive connection to things they observe, or their interpretation of the general, traditional Tarot interpretations.
It is also important to know that the meanings and interpretations of cards can be and should be adjusted or tweaked for the context of the question being asked. Some symbols or images or colors will click mentally with you if you use the question being asked of you as your point of reference and focus on that.
For example: If I am asked a question about a person's personality or asked to describe someone who may be coming to visit a friend, the following cards, if they come up in my spread would indicate personality traits and descriptive characteristics rather than the traditional meanings more often associated with actions or events.
King, Queen, Page, Knight of any suit.
The Magician, The High Preistess, The Heirophant, The Hermit, The Emperor, The Empress, The Hanged Man, and The Fool.
The suit of the card: Swords, Pentaclees, Wands, or Cups will also indicate to me basic characteristics as well. The usual associations I make with my Rider-Waite deck for example are:
Swords: Concern emotions, relationships, moods and attitudes
Cups: Concern intelligence, creativity, insight, intuition, academics, messages, communication, perception.
Pentacles: Concern finances, career, job, money, investments, security, profit, work, projects, personal well-being
Wands: Concern beginnings, travel, movement, powers of creation, energy, positive or negative influences, growth and development, and personal achievement.
Other decks may suggest other associations. The images and patterns and colors displayed can and often do evoke certain impressions or impulses on the reader and you should trust your gut reactions to cards and consider them in a reading. And do be aware that no two readers have to come to the exact same conclusion on any given card. The reader provides what he or she plucks out based only on what the cards tell him or her-- just as there are a variety of cards and decks, there are a variety of readers and a variety of ways of seeing and reading what the cards provide. And often an interpretation that doesn't seem to apply for that immediate moment may in fact apply to a later time period or a situation or event at least close to the person asking the question of the reader.
This is just food for thought to get you started. Any specific questions, just ask in my Random Tarot Topics thread.
