What is Tarot and how does it work?
This is a very important issue, and not one that I can completely cover in this article. However, I will attempt to address it.
There are two main schools of thought, when it comes to Tarot. One is, Tarot is a tool for cold reading. Another school is that Tarot is somehow "magic".
From my perspective, neither of these is right, but at the same time, both are.
Tarot does not predict the future, it is a guide. Tarot presents the sitter (the querant) with information. The information is generic, and must be interpreted to fit the circumstances in question.
This is a topic of much debate, so I'll leave you to debate it
How to learn the Tarot
This, again, is a topic of much debate. I will tell you the method I used.
I put aside an hour per day for Tarot work.
I sat down, shuffled the cards, then pulled one from the deck at random.
I then just looked at the card and asked myself a few questions about it. Questions like "What do I see?" "Does this remind me of any experiences I have had or someone close to me has had?"
I wrote down everything that came to mind and it took me about a week to create my own journal of Tarot interpretations. I then did a few 3 card spreads to see how the cards linked together - basically, I made stuff up
And that's it! If you're going to try this method, here's a few tips - consign all your Tarot books to the proverbial bin, relax, avoid thinking that there is a "correct" meaning to a card. Stop conforming, it's an art form
Have any of you seen Dead Poet's Society? What Robin Williams was doing was encouraging creativity and free thinking in his students.
