I think that mystical experiences run in my family. A distant ancestor was the foundress of a contemplative order of nuns. She has been beatified (one level below official saint).
My grandmother was part native, and it saddens me to say that she detested that part of her heritage. She wouldn't let her photo be taken because she thougt she was too indian. She had a gift for reading cards. She read playing cards, but gave it up when she predicted a death, and it happened. I think perhaps she thought she somehow caused it.
I had a number of psychic experiences as a child. I would know when a friend was coming to visit. I used to see things in other realms. I had a problem though, for whatever reason, and the reason isn't really important, I began to drink fairly young. I lost many of those abities in my later 20's. I have recently put down the drink, and started to tend to my spiritual life.
I am starting to feel things coming back. I am once again getting in touch with the Goddess and my own energies. There are still aspects of myself that I can't reach as I used to, but I'm certain that I'll be a whole person once again.
