I have a interest in Magic Squares.
I have realised that the next stage to Magic Squares are Cubic Magic Squares. The concept creates hidden areas of space.
I have started a group on Yahoo
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stargrail/
Although in it's infancy, anyone interested in Magic Squares and the consequences when turning each square cubic, pay a visit, you may find it interesting.

I clicked on this link to the "stargrail" Yahoo! Group, but it says it doesn't exist.
I'd love to join and learn about Magic Squares.
Anyone have any suggestions for learning the basics of Magic Squares?

I have let the group go, found no one was interested.
Did you check www.stargrail.co.uk? The concept of cubic magic squares are explained, as are Cwantum cubes. I no longer have access to a digicam so at the moment no pics.
If there is anything you would like to discuss, let me know here. I sure the owner won't mind it being put here.
If I first show you a doughnut it might help.

There is not a number 9, but look through the middle in a straight line and 9 is the sum of all views.
I'll add a xl file with Magic squares 1 to 9. It show only one pattern of movement, but will give you a start.

The eight squares in a disceted cube can be arranged into a circlular configuration making space for a ninth in the middle, indicated in the doughnut above.
In this way number 9 can be seen as a reflexion of 0. The smallest demonstrated by number reduction is eight, four patterns going clockwise and four patterns going anticloswise.
PREVIOUS XL FILE 1 to 9 magic squares
The master number set at 0 in the xl file above and are numbered to what I call Minimum C. It demonstrates at the minimum, half of the seen numbers are invisible as nothing or negative numbers. The difference between a^2 and ab, when b=a.
UNLOCKING FILE
To unlock the file go into the excel bar 'tools' 'protection' 'unprotect sheet' and enter the pssword 'stargrail' to unlock the sheet. The values for each cell can then be changed.
NEW XL FILES
The xl files attached show the math of the equal 2 square.
They have a logical ascending positive start number of -1 and descending negative start number of -2.
The equal 2 square does not appear to have the magic properties shared by the others, until it's doubled.

Equal odd squares with a C value of 0, demonstrate the 'space' between equal odd squares has an oscillating magic square pattern. 0, -4, -8, -12, -16, -20 etc.
The equal 2 square demonstrates a rotation and oscillation magic square pattern. -22, -18, -14, -10, -6, -2, 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22 etc.
All equal odd squares have a rotating magic square pattern.
All equal squares divisable by 4 have an oscillating magic square pattern.
All equal squares divisable by 2, but not 4, have a rotating and oscillating magic square pattern.

Equal even squares show the 'space' between their minimum C values, has a rotating and oscillating magic square pattern. -6, -10, -14, -18, -22 etc.
A longer table is available that has a maximum 'C' value of 50,000.

Energy equals Mass times C^2. I believe C^2 can be seen as a magic square Constant table.
As I am trying to understand minimum energy in an attempt to discover a mechanical solution. I believe the solution is hidden within the patterns of magic squares and cubic magic squares.
In the magic squares 1 to 9 above, the minimum constant in a magic square is exampled, -4,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,4 not the usual 123456789 in a grid of 3x3.
By extracting the start number and constant from each magic square, a table can be constructed.
A larger C values table exhibits a wavey 2D pattern to the equation E=MC^2.
I am just sharing some of the data I have found along the way.

A 13.7mb excel worksheet file with equal squares 1 to 254 exampled with Constant values of -5000 to 50000 is now available.
PM me if you want a copy of the file as it is too large to attach here.

The attached file is an example of Magic Square sum values.
The table demonstrates which magic squares share the same sum.
This example shows the sum of magic squares 1 to 20, upto a value of 1000.
A larger table is available.

The next step I took was to imagine the 'squares' in Magic Squares to represent cubes.
In a 3x3 Cubic Magic Square the centre cube is surrounded by eight. I imagined that the centre cube could be divided into 2, and extended up by half and down by half. This oscillation makes a space in the centre of a Cubic Magic 3 square.
The centre cube has the ability to oscillate into 2 cubes.

I call this way of looking at Magic Squares - Cubic Magic Squares.
The oscillated squares above reform into tetrahedral shapes, the series expands logically to infinity.
Attached are examples of Linear Equal Cubic 3 Squares and Cubic Magic 3 Squares. Cell A1 is the master number and can be altered.
