I am a back up team lead at work. The actual team lead is lazy and grossly under qualified, he was appointed because of a friendly relationship with the former manager.
He is always late if he bothers to show up, and I cover all the duties of the team lead anyway. I need to be appointed as the official team lead so that I get the credit as well as the responsibilities.
