Mohammed and Islam!
By Dr Joshua David Stone

I very much wanted to include a chapter in my book on the world of Islam, because I perceive a separation in the Western world from the Islamic world. This has occurred, I believe, because of radical fundamentalists who have misinterpreted the true teachings and given Islamic religion a bad name.

This chapter is meant to correct this injustice, and to show that the teachings of Mohammed and the Kiran are as beautiful as those of Christ, Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Confucius Lao Tse, or Zoroaster. It is truly time to see all religions as just spokes on a wheel.

The Islamic religion takes a major step in this direction for it acknowledges that the God of the Hebrews and Christians, is the same God that they worship. The teachings also acknowledge Jesus, Abraham, and Moses as prophets of God. Let us, however, start at the beginning.

Islam is the youngest of all the great universal religions. It is also one of the simplest and easiest to explain. It is monotheistic in nature, and venerates a single and powerful God. Mohammed, the founder of the teachings of Islam was a channel for the Archangel Gabriel, and that is how he gained much of His information.

It is interesting that Mohammed, unlike Krishna, Rama, or Jesus Christ, was not seen as a divine incarnation of God. He was seen as more of a prophet or mouthpiece of God. The word Moslem means "One who submits". Its adherents encompass one seventh of the world’s population.

The sacred book of the Islamic religion is the Koran. Moslems acknowledge the truths of the old and new testament. They see these texts as incomplete, however. The Koran is seen as the final and absolute expression of the Will of God. They also see the prophet of Mohammed as the greatest of all the prophets since Abraham.

One night the Archangel appeared to Mohammed in a vision and cried "Recite!" From this initial revelation the Koran was articulated. The Islamic name for God is Allah. Mohammed continued his channelings for over a decade. The people of Mecca heckled him and threatened his life because of his denunciation of idol worshipping. Because of this Mohammed left Mecca in 622 and went to the city of Yathrib. The year of Mohammed’s flight is considered the first year of the Moslem calendar.

Mohammed quickly became a religious leader and governor of the city. A war ensued between the two cities and Mohammed returned to Mecca in triumph. The Moslem’s teachings are monotheistic and do believe in a last judgment. They don’t, however, believe in the trinity of God as the Christians do.

The Koran is very detailed in its descriptions of heaven and hell. Mohammed prescribed five duties for every Moslem as "Pillars of Faith".

1. Shahadah - To profess their belief, "I witness that there is no God but Allah and that Mohammed is the prophet of Allah."

2. Salat - To pray five times a day.

3. Zakat - To give alms for the needy.

4. Saum - To fast in the month of Ramadan.

5. Hajj - To make the pilgrimage to Mecca.

The Moslems believe that when all people submit to Allah and live by the teachings of the Koran, that peace will come to all people. The Koran also contains many legal and moral laws. There are rules for marriage and divorce, and punishments for crimes. It disallows Moslems to gamble or eat pork. It also doesn’t allow the making of images, pictures, or sculptures of Mohammed. There is also a law that no non-Moslem may take the pilgrimage or even enter Mecca.

Second only to Mecca as a sacred spot to the Moslems, is Jerusalem. In Jerusalem resides the Dome of the Rock. Beneath the temple mosque, called the Dome of the Rock is a hallowed rock long sanctified by the Moslems. According to Moslem teaching, this is where Abraham sacrificed, or at least was about to sacrifice his son, Issac, in the Old Testament story. It is also where angels visited before the creation of Adam.

Noah’s ark was supposed to have sailed around it seven times. All the great prophets including Elijah came to pray there. It was from this rock that Mohammed was to have ascended to heaven. It is also the rock that, on judgment day, the angel "Israfil" will sound His last trumpet.

Right near the Dome of the Rock are also the holy places of Judaism and Christianity. In one of the Paul Solomon channelings of the Universal Mind, the Source predicted that this could be the starting spot of a future war in the Middle East. He foresaw Jewish fundamentalists trying to rebuild their sacred temple in an area that was sacred to the Moslems near the Dome of the Rock. This, he prophesied, as the instigation point for a possible conflict. Let us pray and hold the thought that this does not occur, for the future is in our hands to create every moment.

At death, the body is washed and the hands are placed in a prayer position. Before the head is covered the relatives say their good-byes. After prayers and a type of catechism is whispered into the ears of the dead "Who is thy God? Allah. What is thy religion? Islam. Who is its prophet? Mohammed." This prayer prepared the departing soul for questioning by the Angels, Munkar and Nakir. Mourning may last as long as 100 days.

Of all the religious duties of a Moslem, the fast of Ramadan is the most important. All Moslems must not drink or eat food or perform any sexual act from dawn till dusk. People are supposed to pray, meditate and read the Koran.

The Koran is the one sacred scripture of the Moslem people. It is made up of 114 chapters called suras. It is believed that these came to Mohammed as revelations of God. It is read daily in all schools and mosques.

The opening of Koran states, "In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful! Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the beneficent, the merciful. Owner of the day of judgment, Thee (Alonge) we worship; Thee (Alonge) we ask for help. Show us the straight path, the path of those whom thou has favored; Not (The path) of those who hear thine anger, nor of those who go astray."

The Koran is not organized in the order that Mohammed received the messages. It is rather organized with the longer chapters coming first and the shorter ones coming last. All but one of the suras begins with the sentence. "In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful!"

The word Koran actually means recitation, which is the first word that was received from the Archangel Gabriel. It is very interesting that Archangel Gabriel was so instrumental in the creation of the Islamic religion as well as in the lives of Mary and Joseph in the Christian saga. As I have also said previously in this book, Jesus was one of Mohammed’s teachers on the inner plane. A lot of the suras in the Koran give detailed rules about how Moslems should live. Moslems regard the Koran as the most important book in the world.

More on the Five Pillars
Before praying a Muslim must wash his face, arms, head, and feet. The prayers follow a fixed pattern of words and movements. Prayers may be recited in any clear place. Adult males are supposed to go to a mosque for noon prayers on Fridays.

Islam teaches Muslims to be honest, generous, just, and ready to fight in its defense. Muslims are also not allowed to lend money for interest. Muslims see these ordinances as being commandments from God and cannot be altered.

The Mosques in the Arab world are very beautiful. One unique external feature is the minaret or tall tower in each mosque. This tower is to allow the "Muezzin" to call the people to prayer with the following words:

"God is most great, I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, I bear witness that Mohammed is the messenger of Allah. Come to prayer, come to your good, God is most great. There is no God but Allah." The mosque is a place for meditation, prayer, teaching and serves as a meeting hall.

Ramadan occurs on the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. This month is holy because this is the month when Mohammed first started receiving revelations from God. Moslems are supposed to fast for all thirty days, however, not in the evenings. During this time they are also not supposed to smoke, argue with friends or neighbors, and be helpful, kind, and generous.

Muslims also can only eat meat that is prepared in a certain way. This coincides with the Jewish tradition of eating Kosher food. When an animal is being killed, the butcher must say "Bismillah" which means, "in the name of God." This is to show that life is only taken to provide food for the devout Muslim. Meat prepared in this way is called halal or permitted meat. Alcohol in any form is 100% disallowed in the Moslem faith, as is eating the meat of a pig. Again, this is similar to Judaism.

Once in his or her lifetime, a Moslem is supposed to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca. This is only if they can afford it and doesn’t cause undue suffering on one’s family. Male Moslems wear, on this pilgrimage, only two seamless sheets of white cotton. The reason for this is to make all people, regardless of status or wealth, look equal in the sight of God.

During the pilgrimage, no soap, perfumes, cutting of hair, or nails, killing of any form of life, or sexual relations, is allowed. Upon reaching Mecca, the Muslim walks seven times around the "Ka*Aba". The entire tracing of the path of Mohammed is much like how Christians and Buddhists trace the travels of Jesus and Gautauma Buddha.

Muslims have been undertaking the "Hajj" (pilgrimage) for fourteen centuries. It is the world’s largest spiritual gathering. If you have never seen pictures of it, I recommend going to the library or book stores and looking at some of the pictures. It is quite a spectacle to behold.

There are many laws in the Koran concerning not misusing wealth. An example of this is that a Muslim is forbidden to not allow his family to share in his estate. Muslims also believe, very much in the resurrection of the body after death. It is interesting that in the Muslim faith, the dead are buried and not cremated, as in Hinduism. Muslims believe in the direct communion of each man with God. All are equal in the eyes of God and therefore priests or intercessors are unneeded.

The Koran teaches that the soul of man is immortal. After being embodied on earth, it then enters heaven or hell, according to one’s conduct on earth. The Koran also teaches of the high virtue of truthfulness, and that it would be observed at all times and in all circumstances even though it may bring injury or pain.

When a Muslim child is born, the first thing the child hears is the "Shahadah" which means the profession of faith. "I witness that there is no God but Allah and that Mohammed is the prophet of Allah." All Muslim boys are circumcised, which, again parallels the Jewish faith.

Parents have a special responsibility to teach their children what the Muslim faith requires of them. Schools in Muslim countries teach the principles of Islam, so there is not a separation of church and state, as in the West.

Teenagers are expected to work hard at school and to help around the house. Going to parties and discos is discouraged, especially for girls. Girls tend to be treated more strictly than boys. Family life is very important to the Muslim as is respect for elders.

Koran encourages Muslims to marry and have children. Sexual relationships outside marriage are forbidden. Parents arrange weddings for their children, as is done in the Hindu faith. The bride and groom, however, do have the right to refuse, and if both parties don’t agree then the marriage will not happen. Marriages in the Islamic teachings, is seen as not just two people, but as the marriage also of two families. For this reason, family opinion is very important.

Muslim men are allowed to marry up to four wives, but this is very rare. Islamic law requires that each wife be treated equally. The Muslim wife takes care of the family and homes. Providing for the family is the man’s job. Divorce is permitted in the Islamic teachings but frowned upon. If a divorce does occur, the wife receives some money from her ex-husband and also takes all the household goods and furniture. The wife’s maintenance now becomes the responsibility of the male relatives.

Women are seen as having equal rights, but different duties. Women have the same right to own property and seek education. In actuality, however, men are often still a bit chauvinistic, in this regard. Women work a lot in the fields of nursing, teaching, agriculture, and textiles.

Men are always to be covered from the navel to the knees, even when swimming or showering. Women are supposed to cover their whole bodies except for the face and hands when out in public.

The Prophet Mohammed
It was at the age of forty that Mohammed began to be seized by the conviction that he had been chosen by God to be the prophet of the true religion among the Arab people. The Arabs, up to this time, unlike other peoples, had known no prophet before him. For days Mohammed remained alone in a cave on Mount Hira, much like Moses’ experience of climbing Mount Sinai, to speak with God.

It was in that beginning divine moment that the Archangel spoke out, "Recite, speak out in the name of the Lord who created …. Speak out …For the Lord is the most beneficent and has taught the use of the pen."

As part of the Muslim spiritual practices, he will repeat the 99 beautiful names of God. When asked if there is a one hundredth, he answers,. "Only the camel knows it and that secret gives the camel his dignity."

Muslims use prayer beads much as all the major religions do. Muslims also believe very much in Angels. It was believed that Allah reveals his will through them. Azrael, they saw, as the Angel of Death, and Asrafel as the Angel who will blow his trumpet on judgment day.

Allah was seen by Mohammed as occupying a throne in the Seventh Heaven. He has about him, a host of angels who wait upon him and do his bidding. Among these are Nakir and Munkar, who are entrusted with the job of subjugating every dead person in his grave to an examina-tion (Bardo in Buddhism). Preparations for these tests have been made by the Recording Angels, two of whom are assigned to each person, and charged with listing the person’s good and bad deeds.

Mohammed also taught of the existence of a Satin. He became the devil when evicted from the Garden of Eden. Satin’s task is to tempt men and impede the purposes of Allah. The devil was seen as doomed for failure for the will of Allah cannot fail.

Muslims believe that Allah has revealed Himself in a progressive succession of 124,000 prophets, of whom Mohammed is the final culmination. If mankind fails to heed his revelation, then the end of the world is soon at hand.

Another one of the central beliefs of the Islamic teachings is the belief that every occurrence in life, whether good or bad, has been determined long in advance by the immutable will of Allah. Many Moslem philosophers think that Allah is the author of evil, also, and that man has no free will. This is not true of all Muslims. Muslims do tend to face life with an innate fatalism.

Muslims are warned that their wrong doings will be balanced against their good and meritorious deeds at judgment day. Because of Islam’s formal and sometimes rigid nature which, in some ways, has been similar to Judaism in this regard, a new movement arose called Sufism. Sufism being the more mystical side of the Islamic faith, much as the Kaballah is the mystical side of Judaism.

Sufism was started by Abu-Hamid Mohammed Al-Ghazzali. It emphasized the unison of the soul and God here on earth, not just in the after life. They tended to be very quiet, ascetic, and focused on the more mystical aspects of Islamic teaching.

The Islamic faith has many sects, just as Christianity does. At its best, Islam is divided into two between the Shiites and the Sunnites. They are linked together in the belief in Mohammed, the Koran, and the five pillars, but that is about all. The Sunnites tend to be the fundamentalists or traditionalists.

Another group with a heritage from the Moslem faith is the Sikhs. They are the men we see, who are tall with impressive beards and turbans, sometimes wearing a knife. They revered the great spiritual master, Kabir. Kabir’s focus was that love of God was enough to achieve salvation. It was Kabir that said, "Go where you will, to Benares or to Madura, if you do not find God in your own soul, the world is meaningless for you." Kabir was also, of course, a past life of Sai Baba.

A generation later came Guru Nanak. Guru Nanak taught the importance of repeating the true name of God as a main practice. The Sikh religion is a deliberate mixture of Hinduism and Muslim religions practices. Kabir believed there was truth in all religions, and that there was one God known variously as Allah, Krishna, Rama …Kabir was also the creator of many beautiful songs that are incorporated into the Sikh scriptures.

Guru Nanak was married earlier in his life, but then became an Ascetic, wearing the robe of a Hindu, but the turban and prayer beads of a Muslim. Guru Nanak had a vision of God holding out to Him a cup of nectar and saying, "Go and repeat my name and make others do so." This, of course, is a spiritual practice that Sai Baba has strongly recommended doing as a regular practice.

The nine successors of Guru Nanak are also called Gurus and are though to be Guru Nanak incarnated in all of them. This is much like the understanding of the Dalai Lama in Tibetan Buddhism. The tenth Guru, Govind Singh, instituted a ceremony of initiation in which all Sikhs took new names and the title Singh (lion). They swore to five rules: To leave the hair and beard uncut, to wear a steel comb, to wear shorts, to wear a steel bracelet on the right wrist, and to wear a steel dagger. All true Sikhs do this, though the shorts may be under the trousers.

Today the Sikhs number about six million followers. A Sikh is defined as one who believes in the ten Gurus and in the "Granth Scripture". The Granth Scripture refers to the "Primal book" of Sikhism. The succession of Gurus came to an end with the tenth, Govind Singh. After that the scripture became the Guru, and teacher.

Sikhs believe that God is everywhere so there is no need to become an ascetic in order to find Him. This is much like what Buddha learned on His spiritual path in espousing the middle way. Sikhs insist that God is personal, and revealed through their Gurus. The model for living is the example of the ten Gurus, especially Guru Nanak.

Summation
Mohammed died in the year 632. Within twenty five years after his death, the followers had already become masters of Arabia, Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Babylonia, and Persia. Within seventy five years they had conquered all the northern coast of Africa and almost all of Spain. In summation, there are very beautiful practices, ideals, and concepts in the Islamic teachings. Clearly negative ego, glamour, illusion have infiltrated some of the teachings.

The same can be said, however about Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. This will be discussed in a later chapter. For now it is suffice to say that the teachings of the prophet, Mohammed and the Archangel Gabriel spiritually revolutionized the entire Arab world, and brought forth a moral code of ethics and ongoing devotion to God that is continuing and spreading rapidly even to this day.

SOME OF THEIR LAST WORDS

JESUS: "Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Luke 23:34. (said while dying on the cross at Calvary after being betrayed and sentenced to die for no legitimate reason).

MUHAMMAD: "May Allah curse the Jews and Christians for they built the places of worship at the graves of the prophets." Bukhari, Vol. 1, #427 [Muhammad had been poisoned years earlier by a Jewish woman whose husband was killed by the Muslims and the poison had slowly worked its effect. He said this while dying in the arms of his wife Aisha].

COMMENT

As I've studied both of these men's lives, I find that the above comparison details some of the strongest character differences. Here are their dying words, words that will mark the end of their lives. Christ asks God to forgive His enemies, while Muhammad utters a bitter curse against those who rejected his assertion of prophethood. Wouldn't it have been more appropriate for Muhammad to ask Allah to guide the Christians and Jews while he was dying?

SLAVERY

JESUS: had no slaves. Jesus taught to do to others as you would have them do to you. Jesus had no slaves, and it is apparent from His teachings that He would not have slaves. He freed men, not enslaved them. No one wants to be enslaved against their will.

Further, Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 1:8-10,

"We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers..."

From these verses, we see that forcibly enslaving people, and trading in slaves, are against Christian teachings.

MUHAMMAD: was a slaver. He owned and sold many slaves, both male and female. He said Allah allowed him and his Muslim followers to have sex with their female slaves when the men wanted to. Reference the Quran, Sura (chapters) 33:50, 52, 23:5, and 70:30. Slaves are considered "booty" for Muslims when taken in raids, thus they are Muslim's property. Muhammad felt proud and conceited enough to enslave thousands of people.

The great Islamic historian Tabari wrote regarding Muhammad's sexual intercourse with his slave Mariyah; "he had intercourse with her by virtue of her being his property." [Tabari, Volume 39, page 194].

Muhammad made slaves out of the people he raided and fought against. Most notable were the women and children survivors of Muhammad's massacre of the 800 males (young teens and up) of the Jewish Banu Quraydhah, Sura 33:26. The Sirat Rasulallah - the earliest biography of Muhammad, gives much more detail on pages 461 and on. Shortly after massacring the Jewish males Ibn Ishaq wrote on page 466:

"Then the apostle divided the property, wives, and children of the Banu Qurayza among the Muslims, and he made known on that day the shares of horse and men, and took out the fifth", (Muhammad and his family got one fifth of all the spoils of war). . . Then the apostle sent Sa'd . . . with some of the captive women of Banu Qurayza to Najd and he sold them for horses and weapons."

Bukhari also documents Muhammad owning many slaves - vol. 5, # 541 & vol. 7, # 344. Muhammad had Negro, Arab, Egyptian, male, female, Jewish, Christian, and pagan Arab slaves.

Muhammad also allowed slaves to be harshly beaten. When his wife was being examined as to whether or not she committed adultery, Muhammad's son in law, Ali, brutally beat Aisha's slave in front of Muhammad, in order to insure that she tell the truth about Aisha. Here is the quote from Ibn Ishaq's "Sirat Rasulallah", translated as "The Life of Muhammad", by A. Guillaume, (page 496):

"So the apostle called Burayra (Aisha's slave) to ask her, and Ali got up and gave her a violent beating saying, "Tell the apostle the truth,"....

Muhammad did not stop Ali from beating the slave.

Muhammad also allowed newly captured female slaves to be used for sex. From the Hadith of Sahih Muslim vol. 2, #3371

Abu Sirma said to Abu Said al Khudri: "O Abu Said, did you hear Allah's messenger mentioning about al-azl (coitus interruptus)?" He said, "Yes", and added: "We went out with Allah's messenger on the expedition to the Mustaliq and took captive some excellent Arab women; and we desired them for we were suffering from the absence of our wives, (but at the same time) we also desired ransom for them. So we decided to have sexual intercourse with them but by observing azl" (withdrawing the male sexual organ before emission of semen to avoid conception). But we said: "We are doing an act whereas Allah's messenger is amongst us; why not ask him?" So we asked Allah's messenger and he said: "It does not matter if you do not do it, for every soul that is to be born up to the Day of Resurrection will be born".

And vol. 3, #3432

Abu Said al-Khudri reported that at the Battle of Hunain Allah's messenger sent an army to Autas and encountered the enemy and fought with them. Having overcome them and taken them captives, the Companions of Allah's messenger seemed to refrain from having intercourse with captive women because of their husbands being polytheists. Then Allah, Most High, sent down regarding that: "And women already married, except those whom your right hands possess (Quran - 4:24), (i.e. they were lawful for them when their Idda (menstrual) period came to an end).

COMMENT

Jesus' teachings would preclude people from forcibly enslaving people. "Do to others as you would have them do to you" - Luke 6:31. On the other hand, Muhammad and his soldiers went out and attacked many people and forced them into slavery. Worse yet, Muhammad separated slave families by dividing them up between his soldiers and he allowed the men to rape the female slaves.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

SIN

JESUS: was born sinless; He lived a sinless life. Jesus asserted his sinlessness.

John 8:46 - "Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth why don't you believe me?" Also note 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 John 3:5, Heb. 4:15

MUHAMMAD: was declared to be a sinner - Sura 40:55 - "Therefore have patience; God's promise is surely true. Implore forgiveness for your sins, and celebrate the praise of your Lord evening and morning."

Sura 48:1,2 - "We gave you a glorious victory so that God may forgive you your past and future sins ....."

Muhammad also prayed for forgiveness of his sins, Bukhari volume 9, #482:

"...O Allah! Forgive me the sins that I did in the past or will do in the future, and also the sins that I did in secret or in public.

Further, Muhammad even acknowledged harming or cursing people unjustly. From Sahih Muslim, volume 4, "The Book of Virtue and Good Manners, and Joining the Ties of Relationship, chapter MLXXV

"HE UPON WHOM ALLAH'S APOSTLE INVOKED CURSES WHEREAS HE IN FACT DID NOT DESERVE IT, IT WOULD BE A SOURCE OF REWARD AND MERCY FOR HIM".

Hadith #6287 - "Abu Juraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying, "O Allah, I am a human being and for any person amongst Muslims upon whom I hurl malediction or invoke curse or give him whipping make it a source of purity and mercy."

COMMENT

Jesus was a sinless man – the Son of God. Muhammad was a self proclaimed prophet – a man capable of sinning and making mistakes, having both good and bad traits. At times he was kind, at times he cursed and harmed many people. How much of their nature, or character, was inevitably translated into their respective religion? Jesus was pure and sinless, Muhammad stated that he prayed for forgiveness up to 70,000 times a day! Who would you rather follow?

PUNISHING SINNERS WHO WERE WILLING TO REPENT

JESUS

From John 8:2-11

At dawn He (Jesus) appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" They were using this question as a trap in order to have a basis to accuse Him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with His finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" "No one sir", she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

MUHAMMAD

From the Hadith of Abu Dawud, #4428

"Buraidah said: "A woman of Ghamid came to the Prophet and said: "I have committed fornication", He said: "Go back". She returned and on the next day she came to him again, and said: "Perhaps you want to send me back as you did to Maiz b. Malik. I swear by Allah, I am pregnant." He said to her: "Go back". She then returned and came to him the next day. He said to her: "Go back until you give birth to the child." She then returned. When she gave birth to the child she brought the child to him, and said: "Here it is! I have given birth to it." He said: "Go back, and suckle him until you wean him." When she had weaned him, she brought him to him with something in his hand which he was eating. The boy was then given to a certain man of the Muslims and he (the prophet) commanded regarding her. So a pit was dug for her, and he gave orders about her and she was stoned to death. Khalid was one of those who were throwing stones at her. He threw a stone at her. When a drop of blood fell on his cheek, he abused her. The prophet said to him: "Gently, Khalid. By Him in Whose hand my soul is, she has repented to such an extent that if one who wrongfully takes an extra tax were to repent to a like extent, he would be forgiven". Then giving command regarding her, prayed over her and she was buried.""

COMMENT

Here is a stark contrast between the two men. When Jesus dealt with the adulterous woman, He did not condemn her. He commanded her to go and sin no more. He gave her a chance for redemption – the very model of mercy.

How many people have started out down the wrong street, but years later were able to turn their lives around? Not only in that, but they have been able to help others turn their lives around as well? Jesus offered this chance to the woman. Under the law, the Jews could have stoned the woman to death, but Christ's love and compassion was much greater.

Muhammad’s approach was much different. At first, he tried to dismiss the adulterous woman. She confessed her sin to him, but he refused to hear her and deal with it. Instead, he told her to go back. This occurred three times. Three times Muhammad ran from dealing with the situation. Finally, after the women's consistent confession, Muhammad was forced to confront her sin. He allowed her to give birth, suckle and then wean the child, which could have taken 1 to 3 years. Then she returned and Muhammad had her killed.

This woman not only confessed, but she repented. She was a good mother to her child and she was a responsible member of her community. Couldn't Muhammad have forgiven her as he had so many other types of sinners? Muhammad allowed many others off for the sins they committed. Even people who had killed his family members were forgiven if they confessed he was a prophet of God and there was only one God. But Muhammad was unable to deal compassionately with the woman. He couldn't see beyond his nose. He couldn't see that she had turned her life around, properly raised her child, and was doing the right thing. Muhammad's shortsightedness caused her death.

Muhammad did not even deal with it after Judaic law. In Moses' law, the adulterer was to be stoned to death. Muhammad did not do so, he gave the woman several years to live. Even if you take into account the respite to give birth to a child, Muhammad waited until the woman weaned the child. Surely there were other women who could have nursed the child. Muhammad simply dealt with the situation as best, (or not best) as he could; Muhammad made up his own rules as he went along.

WAR - TREATMENT OF ADVERSARIES

JESUS: In Luke 9:54, 55 Jesus rebuked His disciples when they wanted to destroy a town that rejected Him. Also, in Luke 22:52, Jesus' disciples started to fight against those that came to arrest Jesus, He stopped them, and healed a man injured in the fight.

MUHAMMAD: told his followers to aggressively make war on non-Muslims: 9:5, 29. Sura 9 was one of the last Suras given by Muhammad. Initially, when Muhammad's group was weak, he ordered his followers to try to get along with other people. After the Muslims became powerful, he ordered them to spread Islam by force. Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman continued his wars of aggression. A few of Muhammad’s actions include:

The massacre of approximately 800 Jewish male captives: (noted in Sura 33:26).

He ordered the execution of 10 people when he took Mecca. Three of these people were slave girls who had previously made fun of Muhammad. Refer to "The Life of Muhammad", pages 551 and 552.

He attacked the Jewish city of Khaibar where he took one of the Jewish leaders and tortured him to force him to tell where some buried money was. After the man refused to talk, and was near death, Muhammad ordered that his head be cut off. Refer to "The Life of Muhammad", page 515.

COMMENT

No one would envision Jesus ordering the execution of slave girls for mocking him years earlier. He brought a better message and a better way of life. No one would imagine Jesus having a man tortured to reveal buried money. His life was free of greed.

Muhammad could be a very brutal man. Does killing a few slave girls for mocking him seem justified?. Is having them killed for that justified? Does it seem rational or sensible? Does torturing a man just to get money portray the type of man society should follow, obey, and emulate?

WOMEN & MARRIAGE

JESUS: was not married. He healed women, forgave women, and encouraged women. The New Testament teaches that husbands should love their wives and not be harsh with them: Col. 3:19, Eph. 5:25, that men and women are equal in Christ - Gal 3:28, that they should be treated with respect - 1 Pet 3:7.

MUHAMMAD: commanded his male followers to beat their disobedient wives. He gave men the right to beat their wives who persistently disobeyed them.

Sura 4:34 "As those you fear may be rebellious admonish, banish them to their couches, and beat them."

The above verse was revealed in connection with a woman who complained to Muhammad that her husband slapped her on the face, which was still marked by the slap. At first Muhammad said to her "Get even with him", but then added 'Wait until I think about it". Later on the above verse was revealed, and Muhammad added, 'We (He and the woman) wanted one thing, Allah wanted another.

The Hadith also said much about women:

Muhammad said that women are generally so evil, that they will make up the majority of people in to hell. Continuing with Bukhari,

Vol. 1, #301: "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women). They [women] asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands."

Bukhari Vol. 1, #28: "The Prophet said, "I was shown the Hell-fire and the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?), he replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good done to them...."

Sahih Muslim says they are the minority in Paradise:

Volume 4, #6600: "Imran Husain reported that Allah's messenger said: Amongst the inmates of Paradise the women would form a minority."

By putting these two Hadith together, we find that Muhammad said that women were the minority in Paradise, and the majority in hell. Therefore it is not a statistical ratio due to the possibility that there are more women than men. Muhammad viewed women as more sinful than men. And the reason more women are in hell is because the women were ungrateful to their husbands!

Muhammad also declared that women are less intelligent than men:

Bukhari, Volume 1, #301:

"...Then he (Muhammad) passed by the women and said, "O women, give alms as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." they asked, "Why is it so O Allah's messenger?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's messenger, what is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence....."

COMMENT

Christ's teachings show that women and men are equal in God's sight. "There is neither male nor female in Christ". Socially, Christ dealt with them according to the Father's mercy.

Muhammad positioned females as in between slave and free. Even today in Islamic countries women are regulated to being second class and controlled by the males. This is because of where Muhammad placed them in his teachings.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CHRIST'S IDENTITY

JESUS: said He was the Son of God: John 5:18-27, 10:36, Matt 26:63, 64

[Jesus] asked, "Who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God." Jesus replied, "Blessed are you Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven."

Matthew 16: 15-17

JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14

JESUS AS GOD

"Christ Jesus . . . who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men . . ." Philippians 2:5-7

MUHAMMAD: said Jesus was not the Son of God - the Quran makes no distinction among Prophets and Christ is no more than a Messenger:

Sura 5:75 "Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger: many were the messengers that passed away before him ..."

The Quran denies Christ's divine origin:

Sura 43:59: "He was no more than a servant: we granted our favor to him, and we made him an example to the children of Israel."

Sura 3:59: "The similitude of Jesus before Allah is that of Adam: he created him from dust, then said to him, "Be": and he was."

COMMENT

Christ, as a great prophet and teacher, also taught that He was the Son of God, the Word of God, the Messiah, and God incarnate. Muhammad denied this. Either Jesus was telling the truth, or he was a liar or lunatic. Both men could not be correct concerning Christ's identity. Remember, Muhammad came wandering out of the desert, with "revelations" some 600 years later. He had little clue as to what he was talking about. He frequently contradicted the Bible that he asserted as the Word of God.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JESUS WAS WORTHY OF WORSHIP

A man worshipped Jesus, and Jesus permitted it, but Jesus taught that only God was to be worshipped in Matthew 4:10 -

Jesus said to him, "Away from me Satan for it is written, "Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only".

Yet Jesus allowed people to worship him in Matthew 8:2 -

"And behold, there came a leper and worshipped Him saying..."

The Bible commands us to worship Jesus Christ:

"... all should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father which sent him." John 5:23

"... let all the angels of God worship him." Hebrews 1:6

"... at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:10, 11

MUHAMMAD: JESUS WAS NOT WORTHY OF WORSHIP

The Quran implies that Jesus is not worthy of worship:

Sura 43:81: "Say: 'If the Most Gracious had a son, I would be the first to worship him.'"

COMMENT

Only God has the right to be worshipped as divine. Men have received worship as rulers, but God commanded that He alone is to be worshipped. Jesus taught this, but He received worship. Muhammad did not know who Jesus was, and thus he denied worship to the Son of God.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PRAYER

JESUS: taught His disciples to pray simply, and from the heart. God listens to the heart, not the outward form:

Matt: 6:5-13: "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words..."

Jesus taught that true prayer was an expression of relationship and communication with a heavenly Father.

MUHAMMAD: taught formalized prayer ritual: (quotes are from Bukhari, Vol. 1)

488 - passing in front of a praying person annuls his prayer

489 - it's a sin to pass in front of someone while they're praying

660 - don't raise from prayer before the Imam {Muslim cleric leading the formal, ritualized prayers), or God will turn your face into a donkey's face

685 - if the prayer rows (of men) aren't straight, God will alter your faces

690 - if the prayer rows aren't straight, the prayer is not good

717 - if you look up during prayer, you'll lose your eyesight

759 - if you don't perform the bowing perfectly, your prayers are not accepted

These men were quite different. Both have left their marks upon the world. Christians follow Christ, Muslims follow Muhammad. Both claimed to have been from God, but their teachings and actions contradict each other. Only one could have truly been from God

Jesus said that false prophets would come: Matthew 24:11 - "And many false prophets shall arise and shall deceive many". Is it possible that Muhammad falls into the false prophet category?

The REAL message left by Mohammad

This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them.
Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them.
No compulsion is to be on them.
Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries.
No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims' houses.
Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God's covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate.
No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight.
The Muslims are to fight for them.
If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray.
Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants.
No one of the nation (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world).

This is an authenticated doctrine left by Mohammed at St Catherines Monastery at Mt Sinai in Egypt. Its the oldest Chistian monastery in the world. The authentic document is stamped with Mohammeds ring and palm print. Its one of the few authenticated doctrines left by Mohammed.

Christian/Islam are Two seperate religions, two seperate Gods.

The thinking is no different than Israelites in Exodus. Their God passed judgement on the Gods of Egypt. It doesn't make the Gods of Egypt any less real.

Through time there has much to confirm Thoth is a reality. The Crystal Stone found on a Archaelogical dive at Bimini Road by Ray Brown would seem to confirm this. The stone is real and has strong power's. That dive left a profound effect on Dr Brown. He has never dove again. The God spoke to him during that dive, and he felt a supernatural presence.

Christian/Catholics don't say there is no other God, they say put no God "before" your God. This is a Commandment which they follow.

Problem with Islam is there are many peaceful sects of Islam. The word if spoken and iterpreted differently from its native arabic. There are also very radical leaders which promote war, violence and the destruction of mankind. This cannot succeed without the world being destroyed.

Well here's a muslim convert for you. Instead of being brainwashed on islamic web sights hear the truth from a muslim who thought it best to walk away from chaos.

What has islam done to promote world peace? What has islam done to stop terrorism? Islam hides bin Laden. Iran promotes a violent government where christians are put to death.

Irsael is going to war to survive islam. Be carefull what you ask for, ya just might get it. Afghanistan, muslims decapitate anyone who speaks to a US soldier. Pakistan christians 9, 10, 13 yo are raped and forced into islam as war booty. Islam has never denounced slavery. Nor do they believe in the Cross, Son of God, Blessed Virgin, Blood of Christ, Trinity, Honor of Woman and on and on. Its the exact opposite of chistianity. Satans black mass is the exact opposite of the christian mass also.

You really need to educate yourself. I don't think you know what your into. Either that or you simply don't know any better through learned behavior. You must be in a civil country and have a very watered down version of what your into. Either that or you'd like every one to believe this totaltarian cult you promote is civil and about peace. When the fact is that by definition all must covert to islam or die. All it is, is an abomination straight out of the lake if fire.

You all have a lot nerve placing a mosque on the 9-11 sight and calling it Cordoba. And the rest of you ought to read up on Cordoba Spain. And what, you call it disrepect? Wow, We call this freedom of speech here. And you better get use to it. The very princible islam used to build a NYC mosgue is the very princible that will constantly be in your face here. WE wrote that constitution here. Ands that why there will be Hell Angels club house next door to the mosque. Because of that constitution.

You think its by chance the US is pulling out of iraq? Theres gonna be nuclear war there. Cause you just won't let people live in peace.

Maybe its me and I interpret this wrong. Religious text is to be read literally "first". No?

So "if" you watched the videos above, then read these, wouldn't they be the same?

"Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)

"Fighting is obligatory for you, much as you dislike it." (Surah 2:216)

"Seek out your enemies relentlessly." (Surah 4:103-)

"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)

"Believers, when you encounter the infidels on the march, do not turn your backs to them in flight. If anyone on that day turns his back to them, except it be for tactical reasons...he shall incur the wrath of God and Hell shall be his home..." (Surah 8:12-)

"Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme." (Surah 8:36-)

"...make war on the leaders of unbelief...Make war on them: God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory over them..." (Surah 9:12-)

"Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (Surah 9:27-)

"It is He who has sent forth His apostle with guidance and the true Faith [Islam] to make it triumphant over all religions, however much the idolaters [non-Muslims] may dislike it." (Surah 9:31-)

"If you do not fight, He will punish you sternly, and replace you by other men." (Surah 9:37-)

"Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." (Surah 9:73)

"Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them." (Surah 9:121-)

"Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another." (Surah 48:29)

On and on and on, page after page after page, it's "kill the infidel"........YOU ARE THE INFIDEL! I AM THE INFIDEL! ANYONE WHO IS NOT A MUSLIM IS AN INFIDEL!

......And the "holy" Koran wants us DEAD.

This is not a religion, it's a cult of murder, suicide & death......And I haven't even gotten to the Hadiths yet! They are even WORSE!

As I type this, Muslims are enslaving blacks in the Sudan & elsewhere. Real chains, real whips & real slavery. Where is the outcry? THERE IS NONE BECAUSE THESE MUSLIMS ARE DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE KORAN SAYS TO DO!

Everyone better get armed and get Ready !!

Wounded Healer do you really believe ALL Muslims are all about negativity?

Just like in ALL religions and traditions there is the dark and the light... Maybe you are not aware of this simple truth..

What do you think about the Mystical Branch of Islam called Sufism?

Lets see some more negative quotes then..

You sound to me like a religious fundamentalist (Christian).

Have you used your inner spirit guidance at all before coming up with these words of vemon?

Instead of reading and following like a puppet you should use more discernment.. and I think you lack spiritual experience in the real sense..

Time to grow up from that childish mentality.. Take it as you wish..

I posted the positive highlights of the religion to highlight its spiritual aspects...which is very powerfull..but you couldn't resist spewing some negativity over it could you?

I'm blunt..

Generally Muslims worldwide are not about slavery, killing the infidel, and all the other negative stuff you are trying to brand them with..

Generally Muslims worldwide are a very peaceful, loving, deeply connected to Source/God group of people..

It's only a small handful (compared to the majority of muslims worldwide) that are about suicide bombings, etc , etc ..and whatever reasons they have of doing so is down to their own environmental conditioning and karma..

You either have alot to learn or you have a motive to discredit Muslims because you are a hardcore Christian (bye the way 99 percent of Christians have totally screwed up Christ's Messages & Teachings but that is another story).

My point is you do not know what you are talking about.

Not by a longshot.

Take your Political spewings elswhere..Our temple of Mystical Wonders will not welcome your negativity towards Muslims worldwide.. You're wrong.. Totally

I agree with d_redant. Taking quotes out of context to discredit someone else's faith and religion is evil and shows ulterior motives. This is exactly what the Muslim extremists do to justify their actions.

Have you ever read the Bible. I could do the same and take quotes out of context to make it sound like a barbaric religion.

If you knew anything about Islamic history you will realize that all the quotes relate to the time of the prophet in Saudi Arabia only, where they were in a fight for their lives and almost made extinct by their enemies. It relates to people who were killing and torturing them and were told to fight back and defend themselves.

You conveniently missed out the quotes about never to start hostilities, Attack only in the manner in which you were attacked, never break treaties, treat prisoners with respect and dignity. All wars are defensive and to protest the people. Never attack non combatants. Free slaves at every opportunity. Never commit excess in war. if your enemy wants peace then you must also incline to peace.

I could go on and on, but is there any point as you have ulterior motives.

Regards,
Banto..

Well I guess we just disagree here.

What do you think about Sharia Law?

What is your thinking on slavery?

What do you think is happening in the middle east today?

Yes I admit I do not see the shining beacon of hope in Islam. Sorry we don't agree on this one you are welcome to follow your free will.

The religious aspect is tied to social/political idealism which promotes war. Promote war through Jihad over religion? And you call that Hope. Love Peace and Eternal Life?

The middle east is trying to unite. The jury is out still what chaos will happen from there.

Where do you live on Candy Lane where it rains Skiddles?

Do you watch the NEWS? History?

How about the theory Islam goes and prays in peace and allows the rest of the world to do as they please?

When is Jihad over? Rolling Eyes

"Now therefore kill every male among the little ones."
--- Numbers 31:17

"Slay both man and woman, infant and suckling."
--- 1 Samuel 15:3

"Dash their children, and rip up their women with child."
--- 2 Kings 8:12

"Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled and their wives ravished."
--- Isaiah 13:16

"They shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children."
--- Isaiah 13:18

"Slay utterly old and young, both maids and little children."
--- Ezekiel 9:6

"Their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up."
--- Hosea 13:16

Psalm 137:8-9
8 O daughter of Babylon, O destroyed one, O the happiness of him who repayeth to thee thy deed, That thou hast done to us.
9 O the happiness of him who doth seize, And hath dashed thy sucklings on the rock!

The Bible is used along with the Talmud by the jews.
Since the only females left fit for marriage and wholesome relations were prepubescent virgins, a Jewish law concerning child marriage was enacted. That law is found in the Babylonian Talmud:

"Rabbi Joseph said, 'Come and hear. A maiden aged 3 years and a day may be acquired in marriage by coition.'

Mishnah: A girl of the age of 3 years and a day may be betrothed, subject to her father's approval, by sexual intercourse.

Gemara: Our Rabbis taught: 'A girl of the age of 3 years may be betrothed by sexual intercourse.' "

"On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land. (The Noble Quran, 5:32)"

Both the Bible and the Quran have been modified for political reasons. It is pointless to debate these texts.

Agreed. You can cherry-pick either book for good or bad passages. In many cases, you can find conflicting or even contradicting passages. The only explanations for contradicting passages is that all or part of it is not divinely inspired, and we have no way of knowing which parts, if any, actually are.

They're not good sources for facts nor morals.
