Hi. Im 24 years old, male and have done some (I think) serious damage to my hair.

for the past 6 years I have been growing my hair on and off, getting insecure about it then growing it then cutting it... Basically it is thick and curly. My hair has always been abundant, growing fast and thick.

When I grew my hair down to my chin about 3 years ago, i started to get annoyed with it. My mum advised me to use hair straightening irons to control it, so I did. But, no one ever showed me how to use them, and I have always had problems with temper and impatience, so, yep, the two wernt a good mix when I was at the time extremely insecure about how i looked. I started pulling quite hard on my hair with them, and holding for a length of time. I enjoyed the straght look and continued to do this for a while.

The last 2 years I had spent in England. During that time, it was the worst I had ever used the hair irons, using them every day, pulling in anger, holding for long amounts of time, it got to a point every day at least 4 or 5 hairs would be broken or pulled out, and sometimes I burnt my scalp at the temple hairline due to holding too long there by the root, then I would pull down so hard. Idiot I know. But, I looked good after so I continued oblivious to potential damage. Sometimes scabs would form where I burnt the scalp at the temples.

I used them like this pretty much every day, and then when it got long enough to put into a pony tail, I wet the hair, soaking, then wack a load of bryll cream in it, then tightly combed it back, pulled it as hard as I could into a pony tail to keep it straight when it dried. At this point, I noticed many smaller hairs all over the top of my head, I just thought, ah well, another freakish thing about me...

The last time my mum saw me before I came back 3 months ago to Tenerife, was a year ago and she remembers my hair being thick and normal. But, when she collected me from the airport when I came back to Tenerife 3 months ago, she said she noticed my hair was very thin ontop, to the point you could see the scalp in bright light. I only noticed it myself a month ago, then asked my mum and she admitted she noticed it but didnt want to worry me, thinking I must have been very stressed as I always have suffered with depression and anger. So for the past month I have turned my life around in terms of health, nutrition. Before last month, I was drinking Pepsi every day, eating a whole pack of biscuits and chocolates every day, and missing meals and for the past 2 years living like that and staying up most nights until 4 or 5 am, not getting much sleep. But now I am doing everything I can to help my hair and scalp, excercise, massage, i use aloe vera plant gel and massage onto scalp, taking flaxseed oil every day, fruit, vegetabels every day, water water and more water, L-Lysine tablets, Kerratin spray for my hair, fish which I never touched before...

Well, I posted this, as I was wondering on peoples beliefs, and if they know of success with hair regrowth, (I have looked and theres a few success stories) and their opinions if excessive pulling can damage hair to this point, along with serious self hatred (ive been working on that one for a while), seriously bad diet, and seriously unhealthy sleeping and thinking habbits. Also, my Grandfather and my uncle are the only people I could find that have receding hairlines, but they didnt get it until older, and neither lost hair ontop. So, this could be the receding hair line, but, it just seems to add up that after 3 years of bad health, bad diet, negative thinking, suicidal feelings, and over using irons and excessive pulling are the real culprit, but, I need some help to settle my mind on this. I keep doubting I can grow the damaged hair back, and regrow the temple areas...

Help... Sad

Thanks, love and light to all, imagoroom

Hi imagoroom,
I have also been suffering frm hair loss mayb coz its in my family n i got really ill n had to take some medicine that caused hair loss n during that time i was really stressed n had anxiety problem. These all reasons gave me a bad hair loss . however i have slowed down the process off hair loss n my hair regrow.

Now wat i did was some exercises n took some multi vitamins tablets which have zinc n other stuff missing in daily diets which r important for hair growth.

Another technique you can try is buffing your fingernails against each other for 5 minutes 1-3 times daily.
And allowing blood to flow in ur scalp by standing (upside down)on ur hands.

I read somewhere hypnosis can also help in the regrowth of hair but i haven't tried it if someone knows how it works? wats the method then post it here .

hope this could help u with ur prob
THx bye !

thanks saad Very Happy , i will definately try that.... I do excercises every day, go for jogs, I do handstands every now and then during the day, and then a few yoga postures like shoulder stand. The finger nail buffing I heard of before, and I will definately stick with that one now. I always find it hard to buff the thumb nails tho Confused ...

The one thing Im not taking is multi vitamins which funnely enough a friend advised me last night on messenger to take them, and then I had a dream I was shopping to buy multi vitamins... lol

But, I have also been told happiness is one of the most important parts of healing any degeneration, and its something I havnt been for a while, so Im working hard on that too....

Thanks again, love and light, imagoroom
