I've tried some meditation techniques , but most didn't work for me. Well , those techniques were mainly , uh , done with the mind's vision.(You know , "Imagine you are blabla) ... Those just doesn't work for me. I have crappy, noisy mind vision.
So , my request is that please state the best meditation technique that you think will work for me , and possibly how they are done. Thanks a lot. |

Have you tried something simple like heartbeat meditation? Doesn't require any real imagination, just paying attention to your heartbeat, while breathing slowly. You can google and come up with a ton of information on other such types of meditation that doesn't require imagery. |

Sounds like you are not a visually oriented person, but a kinetically oriented or auditorially oriented person. I think you would do well with a counting meditation or a breathing meditation; also, there is a meditation that I made myself and do a lot. You just get calm, and concentrate on removing everything from your concious mind. Any images, words, songs, problems that are on your mind that day, you must remove and throw away.
Hope that helps!

Energy building meditation, qigong etc are good I've found for people who aren't so visual also. The energy helps to focus your mind and body and is an excellent base for any other meditations that you might go on to.
The heart beat meditation is also excellent and is useful for astral projection too. Apart from that there's mantra meditation ie. OM or AUM or SO HAM or I AM repeated silently to yourself.
These are all good meditations and don't require visualization. |

No 2 brains are wired the same. For example, I'm about a 70/30 split kinetic/visual learner, and an 80/20 split spacial/kinetic thinker. In other words, visualizations don't work for me either, yet at the same time, I can operate in ways other people can't
Meditation is all about focus. It doesn't matter so much what you focus on, provided it helps you achieve your goals. Breathing excercises are good for most beginnersthey cover visual, auditory, kinetic, and spacial practice.
Some other suggestions (some will cross over into other styles):
-Kinetic: Try standing on one foot (Yoga's "Tree pose" is my favorite), balancing on unstable ground (don't hurt yourself), or remaining completely motionless, or anything else you might like to try.
-Auditory: Try focusing on a noise, such as music, breathing, or your heartbeat.
-Visual: Visualize an image and try to hold it, or look at a "hard" image (such as one drawn on a piece of paper) and focus on that.
-Spacial: Visualize an object and manipulate it in your mind. Get a good idea of not just the front, but the back, top, bottom, and sides. Alternatively, take some mechanical device and dismantle it in your head. Take it apart, put it back together, repeat. Start with a simple device (can opener, doorknob, spigot, etc.), and work with more complex ones as you get more focused. As a more practical alternative, try to work with an abacus in your mind, solving math problems. You'll be a human calculator in no time if you can pull it off.
Of course, these are just suggestions. What works for me may or may not work for anybody else.
Just don't keep at a losing game. Try something, and if it's not working, try something else.
Other than that, all I can say is good luck, and keep practicing. Meditating's not easy to do, but practice makes perfect.
