I don't always 'go places' when I meditate, sometimes I just try not to think of anything at all, or if I'm paying attention to what my body is doing as a means of focus, I don't visualize but "listen". (sometimes an idea will interrupt me and I'll write it down and then go back to what I'm doing)
The beach, any beach, pretty much, is good for calming down and feeling at ease. If you can actually go there all the better; the sound of the waves can be hypnotic. It's also pretty easy to visualize.
Have fun. |

Perhaps it could be beneficial to visit a place where somebody else is practicing and watch. Maybe visit a dojo where the master teaches some students about that technique you've always wanted to perfect and sit in on the class, or even join in the training.
As for me, I generally visit myself. I go deep inside, examining, reflecting, healing. . . It's my happy place when no run-of-the-mill location will suffice. |

Maybe a dojo is just what you're looking for. However I'm training meditation in any place (just so that others don't notice it), so any place should do for meditation. Hmm. Try a silent place with plenty of space. My recommendation...
