hi all,

I'm just returning to meditation....I sort of forgot about it for a few years Rolling Eyes

I'm finding that I have no 'stamina'. A thought will enter my mind which I follow and forget all about the meditation I was doing.

Can anyone suggest some simple exercises that will help my self control and help me meditate more effectively?

Thanks

peace, love and light

pat

Well if your trying a new technique i always enjoy making senerios
such as clearing the mind and after such is done then imagining that you are in a meadow/(any prefered place) and all is contant and you may stay here as long as you want it energizes and wakes me up. It also shows good control over your mental capabilities

Perhaps your not grounding or connecting your energy so instaed of a creating a strong flow your becoming blocked and unable to achieve the required detachment of ego......maybe look into chakra mantras i find these work amazing for developing energy flows....i can post the ones i use if your interested....

Thank you for your question. . .It triggered a memory that up until now, I had forgotten was there.

If a thought comes into your mind while meditating and you find yourself pulled by the drama being replayed in the mind, at the point where you remember that you are meditating, begin meditation again.
The more you do this, the more you recondition self to the meditative state than the drama state. Try not to let the feeling of disappointment enter your energy as it will undermine your efforts. Just let everything be okay. There is no judgement only what has been, what is and what can be again.

What is being revealed by not meditating is:
1. how much life happenings can clog up ones energy flow.
2. how unconsciously one can condition the instinctive body of energy to resonate with the lower vibrational frequency of reaction.
3. instead of releasing these thought patterns as air bubbles in meditative waters, one holds them in.

If it would make things easier, try counting your breath as a meditation. When you remember that you were meditating, just begin counting your breath again. The counting the breath, gives the mind something to focus on as a thought pattern, but remember, sometimes the thoughts of drama can still come through. Everything is a process.

I too am in the same situation. Blessings to you my friend.

Hi
I joined the forum today and felt like commenting now on this topic of meditation.

1 )A simple exersice at the start of meditation is to first give a direction to the mind by relaxing the body with intention starting from head to toe.Ask the body to relax and it will.Mind will have a job and also the physical body will not give any further trouble like itchings etc.

2)Don't resit the flow of thoughts as it is a natural state of the conscious mind.Accept this state and come out and start again.

3)Use triggers to move from one depth in meditation to another. For example shifts between our energy bodies. After one shifts to the spirtual body this problem of thoughts does not annoy much.Counting backwards is a good trigger.

4) A clearly stated / known intention or purpose of meditation is a must.

5)Spirtual masters advice repitition of a holy word/mantra and listening to the same inside , to solve this issue.

Blessings be with you.

HI,

I've been thru exactly what you say.

Here's what i did:

Meditate eyes opened fixing a small object on the floor in front of you. Sometihing simple like a white stone, not complicated like a statue or a symbol. You want to break your mental processes.

Meditation this way for more than 30-40 minutes, every day for a week. You have break your mind until he will accept to loosen up the moment you set yourself to meditate.

I did a 3 days blitz once:

from 6pm to 6am, 3 days in a row, chant a sacred chant for 45 minutes, meditate for 45 minutes, take 30 minutes off to gaze, pee, eat, relax, but don't say a word. Keep silent. Go to work in the day, get back home, rise and repeat for 3 days. This will break any mental limitation to meditate.

Today, when i sit to meditate, within a few seconds my mind is calm, and transcendence is achieved within minutes.
