Firstly, I was abit confused as to which section of the message board I should put this topic. But I guess meditation is universal.
Alright. I've always heard that meditation is the key to many answers of the soul. I've heard it's the most ancient form of " training your mind " and enlightenment. But I need to know, what exactly is the purpose?
Like, when someone is meditating.. are they concentrating on a specific thing? Or are they just sitting down, breathing quietly and thinking about nothing? I'm very new to meditation and I've read many discussions on meditation. And alot of these discussions are very different and sometimes contradict themselves.
Some people say mediation shouldn't be taken that seriously, as long as I'm at ease in my mind and try to clear my thoughts. Others say I should be in a certain position with a certain mind set, thinking about a certain thing.
I guess I want to know to learn meditation because I got this pyramid. It's a very strange little artifact but I just know it's something inside of it. Like sometimes you just know things are powerful without not knowing how. And I'm one of these people who have latent psychic abilities. Mine are so hard to bring out. I can't feel, touch, or see anything so it's very surprising for me to just " know " something is powerful.
Well back to meditation, does anyone have any pointers on someone whose * just * beginning? |

I would just try every techinque you have read about and see what one works best for you. I would try each technique at least 3 times or more. Give it a break and try a new technique and then come back to it again to see if I like it better, but that is just me. Meditation takes practice so don't get fustrated.
I personally like to repeat a positive affirmation over and over again... other times I just try and quiet my mind.... I guess it is whatever mood I'm in.
Just experiment and figure out what works best for you. |
