We all know that certain words and sounds can carry more power. This is why I like to choose the wording of spells and manifestations myself. I'm not very experienced at it but I tend to choose words that I feel "right" about. My feeling is that it has a lot to do with phonetics and phonology and some kind of root language, so that if the words we choose are closer to that root language then the more powerful they are going to be. (eg non-magically speaking, some Viking-derived words are very harsh sounding and they have a real kick to them... one such word is "fokke"... I think you can easily translate that one into modern English, lol)... ANYWAY... I don't really have the time or energy these days to be using or learning a mystical language, BUT I am interested if anyone could direct me to a link or any information they might have on powerful sound combinations which I could put to use in writing my own spells/manifestations. Intuitively I tend to use sounds that mimic the effect I want, I'm not sure if this is on the right track or not so I would like to learn more about it.

Also, check out the mantra page at wikipedia for a broadening history look at sound to get a better judge of coming up with your own sound combinations when you use the 2 sites linked to above.

Well I must say that I some of the switchwords appear to sound very silly... but I've been using them and THEY WORK. I can't purchase the entire e-book right now as my credit card is in no shape for making any purchases, lol. So maybe if I hunt around online I may be able to find the complete list of words. So far they've worked like an absolute charm. Thanks for sharing the info!

With the sample they give, you should be able to come up with switchwords that feel appropriate for the topics not covered in the sample. Many of the switchwords that are given are verbs related to the desire. Count is for money, which is what you would do with it. Divine is what you do to get information psychically/mystically. Be is for good health, which is what you need to do when you really are feeling good. Curve might seem odd, but not when you look at it from the idea that you have a block of clay and you carve out sections you don't want, adding various curved surfaces to create many things, like if you wanted to create the bust of a person. There are many many curved lines on its surface.

As it is with health, having enhanced psychic powers would probably be Be. In working to get justice done, it could be Confess, as well as 'to stop agression', as they suggest.

As much as their switchwords may work for you, you might be able to come up with ones that lets you put more faith in what you're doing because they just 'feel' more appropriate.

Take Be. You can 'Be' in a large house that's yours. You can 'Be' in another country on a vacation. The switchword people would probably say something like 'Live" and 'Rest'.

Yes. Good points. BE is a good one and I would use it for many things other than what they suggest. I also found a list of switchwords that I'll start putting to use as well. I think it may be the complete list.

DIVINE CHARM for manifesting heart's desires causes static electricity around the top of my head.

I just want to thank everyone for this post I've been wondering about this type of thing for over a month now, but I wasn't quite sure how to phrase what i was looking for. Black Cat did it for me. Razz

If it works for you then congratulations. I don't want to bash on anyones practices, and that's not the intent of this post. However, it's not the words themselves that hold power.

Voice is our primary vessel for expressing and directing our will. Sound is vibration, one of the most potent and tangible forms of energy that can be applied to spiritual works. Even outside of spiritual and magickal works, words are a method of directing our will and expressing it to the outside world.

Words are a powerful method of giving an occult practice substance because it's energy that we are capable of manifesting naturally. The greater the intonation, the greater the frequency and vibration. This is why wiccans chant in what's referred to as a "cone of power" with increasing sound and frequency as a spell progresses. Similar practices can be found throughout most spiritual and magickal systems for the same reason. It's potent sound energy that is raised, shaped, and directed by the practitioners will. I have recently started studying the Kabbalah.I reccomend these books by Franz Bardon:Initiation into Hermetics,and The Key To The True Kaballah. The last book is about using the words GOD used to create,as we are co-creators.I don't want to misinterpret the material,so I will leave it at that.
