If this is your personal opinion, then why is it that you are on this site? And no to your question. The leaders of the christian religion demonized other religions so that their grasp over people could be stronger. Read old history books if you don't believe me, and watch the history channel...

For some reason this reminded me of Bobby's mother from the movie Waterboy, who said everything was the devil, (even that she invented electricity and Benjamin Franklin was the devil).

There are Christians who practice. I don't know how they justify it but they do somehow.

I really wish all magick was bad and from the devil; it would make things a lot more exciting and have that diabolical feel (and might actually get me to keep up on my practice more). It's like anything else - you can use it however you want, you can heal with it, which doesn't seem very demonic. But if you want to kill with it, there's nobody stopping you there, either. And if you want to take the roller coaster ride down with no brakes and go fully evil there's nobody stopping you from doing that, either. Just as any other tool can help or harm, like a gun can be used to save lives or go on a killing spree, it's the same with magick, except magick is a lot more versatile. And there are of course (most of the time) consequences to what you do, just like anything else in real life. If it was from the devil and all bad like people say it is, you'd see a lot more "sith" type people out there, and I'd probably end up being one of them, because let's face it, it'd be a lot more fun.

Keep studying. You'll have to weed through a lot of info to find what's right for you. Good luck.

Magick is neither bad nor good but thinking make it so. You would not consider electicity to be bad, but while it can be used to cook a person's dinner it can also be used to cook the person.

I myself am a christian, and I have justification for the magicks. If you use the magicks to harm people, do you think that is the will of Christ? No? Me either. However, Jesus healed people all the time, and who's to say that he wasn't using some form of magick? Jesus drew his power from God the Father, and you can too. Magicks are just another way of drawing that love and mercy into a physical, tangible form.

People misuse God's gifts all the time. If God made someone clever and they use it to rob banks, then that is not good. However, if they use this gift to make a great discovery, that is for His glory.

In a nutshell, if you use the magicks with evil inteent, then it is evil. If you use them with good intentions for God's glory, than it is good.

I hope that helped!!!

Magick is simply a tool. Whether a hammer is used to build houses for the homeless or to bludgeon a woman and her children in their sleep, is all up to the person manipulating and utilizing said tool. The same way you can be a Christian and give to the needy, yet turn around and wage a holy war and break your own rules because you're god is better than their god/gods.

There is no good or evil;
For what is light is not always good;
And what is dark is not always evil;
There is only intent and perception.

I've been reading about magick. In the bible, Acts 19:18-20 talks about when Christians learned that magick was "evil". It says that the people realized that magick was used in place of trusting God. I'm not bashing magick or anything, it's just something I felt that I needed to share.

any spiritual person already knows this

you have to know how to pick sense from non-sense

I personally disagree. As mothersuperior will agree, All Christians believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, and therefore true. However, it does not directly say in that passage that the magicks are evil:

19:18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. 19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all [men]: and they counted the price of them, and found [it] fifty thousand [pieces] of silver.

Hi,

Are you saying the entire bible is the total inspired word from God?

Well I disagree.

Are you aware of the many time the bible was edited by different people for different uses?

Are you aware of the stuff that was removed from the bible? like re-incarnation..

Are you even aware that alot of the stuff in the bible is just not true and even contradictory?

Do not get me wrong. I love the bible for it's wisdom. There is alot of high wisdom in the bible but you have to know how to sift through the information and pick out the truths from the un-truths.

I do not understand the scripture you quoted. Please explain it.

Hello,

Yes, I am aware that the bible was not written in English. However, the Bible was translated by people with the Holy Spirit.

Also, what kind of contradictions and untruths are you reffering to? Please give a few examples. Because historical inaccuracies are a part of any document. Nothing has only one point of view, and therefore everything has several viewpoints. As for contradictions, many of those are cancelled out by the New Covenant: that Christ came to forgive us of our sin. For example, Tit for Tat vs. Forgive one another.

In the verse, Acts 19:18-19, "curious arts" refers to the magicks, fortune telling, etc. Basically, the Christians stopped using magick. But that doesn't mean that magick is evil. In fact, people practice magick all through the Bible: http://www.religioustolerance.org/divin_bibl.htm

Hope that clarifies things!

Sorry

I didn't mean to offend anyone. In the bible I have, there are little notes that talk about the passage. Ok, direct quote (from book note) " When many people in Ephesus became Christians, they realized the evil in magic. They burned their books of magic. Pepole know that God loves them don't have to be afraid of the future. God is in control, and he will take care of them always." Read Acts 19:18-20 and just think about it.

You can find out about the errors and mis-transalations, contradictons,etc by simply using google.. I also dont see how easy it is for contradictions to be cancelled out just like that.. It makes no sense.

It's really too much for me to get into right now and I have no inclination to defend what i percieve as truth to anyone. You are sort of fighting a lost cause defending the integrity of the bible here.

I will however say to you that you have alot of work to do if you really want to realize the full scope of Spirituality.

I will at a later time...but please do your own research because I want everyone to grow and realize that religion IS a problem. Spirituality IS the solution.

This site will never be for religious people...only the spiritual...though i love and respect religion..

Others can probably enlighten you on getting to the bottom of this.

Anyway the main focus of this thread was is magick evil..

And to answer finally to everyone.. It is up to the person behind it..

Can be used for good and can be used for bad...Just like everything else.

Are you aware that certain psalms could be used to cause destruction? Sure you aiint aware of that..

You have alot of work to do...

It is true God loves us all and no need to fear the future..but God isn't just outside of us.. God is inside of each of us. Blessings
