I have started doing deep soul searching and have discarded old ways that just never seemed right or just didn't fit.

I find that I am now in the open without any grounding to attach myself to. I would like to develop my abilities, I have been told before that I do have abilities but what exactly I do not know.

My mom has experiences but she does not talk about them with anyone other than her sister.

My grandmother may she r.i.p. used to have bad visitations.

My dad was/is in the occult but I haven't spoken to him in years. Not for that reason but other personal reasons.

I was told I have abilities and my girls will have it too.

Can anyone tell me what and how to develop my abilities and how to know what to focus on and develop it?

A good start is activating Higher Self connection. This brings the rest of your spiritual and personal development into the perspective of your highest alignment. From here your other abilities develop congruently with this alignment.

Yes, I would like to know how to activate higher self connection also, is it like a deep meditation and focusing, any words to say or others talking you through it.

I activated using "Meditation Mastery Activations" by Hieu Doan. It's an attunement and then activation by 3 cds. This teacher channels his higher self through the disks and the activation occurs through the communication that happens between his higher self and yours. It is layered information and energy that works at the intellectual level as well as the cellular and energetic levels.

I listened to the activation cds everyday and over the course of weeks and months, my physical and mental consciousness became immersed in the Higher Self energy until eventually it opened up fully. The opening is in my opinion one of the most important things to have happened to me and has contributed to my spiritual progress more than anything else I can remember. I don't say this lightly.

There are infinite ways to progress just as there are infinite ways through life. Do a lot of reading, and researching, and more importantly, practice the information given to you and keep records of what you do, records of what works, maybe why it works or doesn't work, your feelings on what you do. It's going to take time and a lot of poking around in the dark to find out what you're good at, what kind of things you actually like to do, and what's harder for you to do (and also, what stuff you just don't want to do).

Also, listen to your own instincts, learn to follow them, and also practice discernment because, sadly enough, you'll have to weed through a lot of info that's put out as theory by people who don't really practice, and while some of it may be good, a lot isn't, or isn't what they make it out to be.

You're going to have to do the hard work yourself. You're going to have to meditate often and ask yourself the hard questions, who are you, why are you here, what do you believe, what do you want to do in this world - and you know, it's okay to not know, but only if you are able to accept not knowing - there's no quick solution, and if you seek truly and earnestly you'll be evolving your entire life, there won't be any "one way" you'll stick to, because you'll grow in new directions, even out of the bounds of the beliefs you once held (which seems to be happening now).

As far as your girls go, when their time comes they'll have to search for themselves as well. You might help them out or start them with the basics or point them in some direction, but the rest they'll have to do on their own in their own due time, if they even want to, and they may not, but you're going to have to let them be who they are.

Ultimately, it's your path, you alone get to decide how to it goes.

here are some 'beginner' resources if you feel you need them. If not, feel free to disregard.

http://www.psipog.com - though, personally, I find the people that run the site to be a little rough around the edges, and the articles haven't been updated in a few blue moons, it's an okay place to start and it's refreshing to see some skepticism in the occult world.

http://www.vsociety.net (they have a few okay articles, and some good e-books. The forums can be a little nonsensical) I'm not sure how well the library works right now as it says it's "Under Construction". I'd recommend Initiation Into Hermetics because even though I disagree with some of the theory and preachiness of it, the book does provide a fairly decent framework of a system to practice, and you can combine it with other systems. They have Mastering Witchcraft by Paul Huson on there, which is a fun book if you decide to go a more pagan route (and even if you don't it has some interesting ideas). Go with whatever tickles your fancy.

There's a lot of material out there (internet) about chaos magick (google it), which is generally more eclectic and "take it and make it your own", which for some people is better because they are no sacred cows getting in the way. Even if you don't want to practice that way they are worth taking a look into and borrowing some ideas from.

Also, don't knock classic literature. There are some good essays of philosophical natures, one of my favorites being Emersons "Self-Reliance." A lot of those you can find from Google and the copyrights have run out so you can get them for free legally in wordpad or .pdf or some other format.

I've tried to keep this fairly neutral because whatever you decide will be on you. Good luck.

Truth is, nobody can "teach" you about how to attune yourself to your higher presence. It is something that must be strived for in earnest by the individual. I can tell you this. Meditation and breathing techniques are the best way to begin.

The only way you will find your pathway to a higher sense of self, and consequently self discovery is by learning to still your mind. By searching for an inner silence through meditation, you will place yourself in a better position to hear the inner voice that guides you. Through practice you will learn to perceive the more subtle nature of life, and interact with the various energies that comprise what we know of as our physical existence. Trust your inner voice, and follow your intuition. Your higher self is always guiding and directing you, but through concentrated meditation and self discovery you will more closely align yourself with that state of being. I hope that helps, as it's up to each individual to walk their own path. But remember, there are thousands out there who have or have had similar experiences that can provide insight at least on what might work for you.

Hey mack what sort of experiences have you had with this stuff? I'm interested in getting me some. I don't believe what people who say you can't learn these things or be taught. You can, you probably just haven't met anyone who can teach you yet so you don't believe it, don't mean it don't exist.
