I happened to recall a device the other day called a "fire piston". It's an ancient firestarting device that developed alongside blowguns in primitive cultures.
In a nutshell, adiabatic process is as follows:
1) Air has a given amount of energy per particle
2) As the particles are pushed together, the energy becomes more focused.
3) As the energy becomes focused, it tries to equalize by escaping into the environment. This is a rise in temperature.
I was thinking that maybe people who are strong aeros (you'd have to be very strong to do this outside of a closed, pressurized environment. **Sidenote: Your opponent's lungs are a closed, pressurized environment**) looking to become pyros may find this to be a viable alternative route.
Or maybe not. Whatever. I haven't seen it here, so I thought I'd throw it out there for whoever wants it.
Good luck in all your endeavors,
