I recently encountered a fae-like being that called itself a mote. It was about three inches tall, female, had a five inch wing span, frizzy white hair, and black eyes. It offered to help me cast a peace spell that I intended to use to speed up the end of the war in the Middle East, and after I gave it a pleasing gift, it helped me with the ritual.

Since then, numerous motes enter my house at will, bypassing my wards and eating my food. I don't mind since they are cute and they help me with my magic, but has anyone else heard of a mote?

I know they aren't fairies, pixies, or sprites, since my scanning has shown that they are really some sort of elemental, and the only time I've heard the name "mote" was in an online virtual pet game that I really didn't like much. But still, where the hell are they coming from?

Well, at least it's not like the time my house was infested with a group of ghosts that seemed to want to talk about baked goods while I was trying to sleep >.>

I believe Shakespeare mentioned motes in one of his plays, can't recall which one at the moment. There was also something called a mote in the first breath of fire game. In Shakespeare, they were similar to a fairy, and breath of portrayed them as imps. I just ran a search, and all that came up was "so mote it be" for 6 pages, then the neopets website.

Well, truth be told, Shakespeare touched more facts than most people think.

Right now, there are about 30 or so motes living in my house, mainly because they heard that I pay spirits really well for their services.

And I'm generous with food >.> They love to eat.

You know, things like Google and such make me think I should run a blog that acts as a ... for lack of a better term, "monster manual" or "creature feature" site. I have met some weird entities that aren't written down anywhere. Motes are just the latest example.

Yeah, and I happen to attract these entities by the cosmic truckload. My home is a haven for motes, fairies, elves, beast people that I call "kemonomimi", Atlanteans, and other things, including stuff the correlates with game settings I've made, and somehow manifested into an entity form.

Example : Ant-humans that stand a foot tall and seem to have nearly unlimited strength occasionally visit me. They call me "Antos the Creator". Most seem to love "eating" the vegetables in my mother's garden, or singing along to my music (which is weird, because I listen to mainly Japanese music and black metal.). Two in particular, a male named Arik and a female named Lysa, visit me the most, almost bi-monthly, or on my birthday, whichever is sooner.

...

More stuff to add to the blog.

sounds very interesting. I cannot say anything about this for I still have my own minor hindrance with some "entities". All this sounds extremely interesting. Among the only reasons why I am hostile to all(it is almost impossible to be hostile to all) spirits is... (do not remember).

I have only ever heard of the word 'mote' being used to refer to the appearences of certain ghosts, but I asked a fae and as best I understand her they are a minor wind elemental. I have a similar situatin with the whole 'haven of supernatural' home. Can be interesting but doesn't help if I'm nearly asleep and something decides it needs to talk. Laughing

LOL. Sounds pretty funny. If they're cute, what are they really like? What do they do and so on? That sounds so interesting to me.
