Amethyst ;

its energy is receptive. its planets are Jupiter and Neptune and its element is water. Deities connected to amethyst are Bacchus, Dionysus, Diana.

It 'powers': Dreams, healing, promoting peace, love, protection, courage, happiness and psychism.

It has been used for several thousand years in magic. It has no negative aspects, just positive ones. It is supposed to reduce stress and calm with its positive vibrations, especially if worn next to the skin.

It is a highly spiritual quartz, used much with meditation.

I think it is also used in chakra realignment for its color purple (crown chakra) and because of all of its positive energies.

My cousin always told me that amethyst helps sleeping well. She makes me sleep with it under my pillow! Has any one else ever heard this quality of the amethyst before? I'd be curious to know if others use it for a similar purpose!

I've read that Amethyst benefits suffers of insomina and can also prevent nightmares.

One of Amethyst's higher qualities is it's ability to absorb radiation, as in MRI, CT Scans, Xrays, etc.

I was watching a program on TV about using satellites to search for ancient sites in Egypt. They used a drill to take a core sample of earth and they found worked Amethyst in the sample. Even the ancient Egyptians ware using this crystal.
