ABC Television in the United States will premiere a new "ET" Program entitled "V" (for "Visitors") on Tuesday November 10th at 8 PM Eastern Time Zone. You can see Video Clips of the new series by going to:

I have watched these clips and I would like to comment. The tone of the new program looks to be thoroughly dark and dismal. The message of "V" looks to be a stark and obnoxious, "The Aliens are coming and the World will be completely unable to cope with their arrival". People are shown milling around like shocked zombies, staring in total disbelief and awe at the gigantic mothership parked above their city. In predictable mass media fashion, the Program plays on fear of the unknown, makes the Aliens look more sneaky than the Devil and it makes humans look like a race of emotionally charged backwater morons in a universe of extraordinary superior intelligence.
Majel Roddenberrys, "Earth Final Conflict" which was made in Canada and aired in the late 1990's is by comparison an almost civilized and thought provoking look at what might occur when the Aliens present themselves, even if Earth Final Conflict was considerably more surreal than the attempt at reality portrayal being taken by the "V" Series.
I also suspect that "V" will likely go the way of the Program "Heroes", bringing in ever increasing levels of graphic violence and gore. Nonetheless, I plan on watching and studying "V", perhaps for the first season at least, if only to examine it for clues as to what the Secret Government has in mind for "first contact" which as many others have speculated will be a "Shock and Awe" technology fireworks show and completely phony to the core to boot! |
