lately iv been wanting to but some crystals and some crystal beads to maybe make a bracelet. But i was getting worried because iv bought some from a store that sells gemstones and fossils and such and when i go online there are some people on ebay or etsy that are selling around the same size beads or way bigger for super cheap and it makes me worried there are fake. they all seem to be sold from hong kong also. I was wondering since they can make fake beads would they still do the same things as natural ones or woudl they be useless in healing and things like that? |

Natural is better You can use fake ones when all you after is color but otherwise you need natural ones as they have specific unique qualities. You can buy online from places like firemountain.com that will tell you exactly what you are getting and whether it has been heat treated or dyed or so on. That is really your best option when you are getting started with gem stones. When you gain more experience you can tell more when buying from sources that don't tell you what you are getting.
Hope this helps,

I have purchased many crystals, stones and beads from ebay from Hong Kong. The beads I heve received, although in some cases dyed, are real stones and not synthetic. We discovered by accident that Dragon Vein agate works in balancing the auric chakras like kyanite does for the physical chakras. When you combine the two into a necklace or pendant, you have a very powerful balancing tool.
Where you must be careful is buying gem stones from Hong Kong on ebay. You run a greater risk of getting fake stones there. For gemstones, go with the dealers from Thailand - it is the gem cutting capital of the world.
Too many people shun using gemstones because they are faceted, but gemstones are still stones and contain their own forms of energy, so therefore should not be discounted. |
