upper left: continium transmogrifier to represent space (dude wheres my car icon)
upper right: flux capacitor to represent time (back to the future icon)
lower left: earth seen from space to represent matter
lower right: plasma flames to represent energy
five hands of eris to represent eris; goddess of chaos

I like your 23 Things PDF even though, and trust me, I'm a Super Official Discordian here, even though it's all wrong. IF you'd like I could elborate (or maybe one you other fellows would care to, I know you're out there, jump in the water's fine! [I hope]) on details on what Discordianism is all about. I will give a hint:
No Discordian cares about hotdog buns. Or Kerry Thornly. Ok, that's not true. Lot's of them do. Just not me. I'm more of a Think For Yourself, Shmuck! kind of guy. Some say REALLY REAL Discordians are right. Some say Golden Apples are for tossing....into a trashcan 'cause that joke is past it's prime.
Now Golden Applesauce mmmm...can't ever get enough of that dude.
Anyhow, Eris love when you talk about her and sends us out to make the rounds, make sure she get's a word in. Not that we speak for her.

thanks for the feedback. i am sure most discordians don't believe or follow everything that is in the principia discordia (or any of the other discordian works), on the same note i'm sure most christians don't believe or follow everything in the bible. not trying to hurt feelings just pointing at fact. discordianism is a parady religion that doesn't try to take itself too seriously. heck, if the creation story is true it was started in a bowling alley by two marines tripping on acid way back in the sixties.

| Have you discovered any magic spells that summon Discordians? I've always wondered if the "Discordian Society" is still a real thing, and not just some in-joke from the 60s. I've always wanted a way to summon up the Discordian Society to see what they look like.

As an official member of the Discordian Society i can say that no such society exists. Discordians working together is simply a figment of our collective imaginations.
Also, the thing with playing about with Eris is she likes to play back and, whilst her play can be interesting at times, it almost always ends in the strange and surreal. Our Lady Discord is an interesting one for sure!
Never stop wondering.

Sounds cool! But I don't know if that's how spells really work? Can you actually summon an entire society?
Because man, there are so many societies I'd like to summon. Several cycling organizations, for example. Or Mensa. Or 4Chan, maybe. Or, like, I don't even know how many awesome societies there are in this world. Societies are almost magickal to me.
But anyway, I don't think you can summon the Discordian society. They're far too wobbly and purple for that, and at this time of the year, they are all probably sleeping, much like faeries and trolls and other mystical wondercreatures.
Besides, who would actually want a Discordian society at their doorstep?

the discordian society is less of a society but rather like splinter cells. small groups of individuals working towards some specific goal. i sure wouldn't want all these lunatics showing up at my front door. i don't have enough beer and ramen noodles to go round.
its also worthy to note that any workings that have you communicating or working with eris are all kinda iffy. she may work or may not work with you because of a ritual, lack of ritual, her disinterest or interest. any working with an entity or diety should be approached like making friends with strangers. respect and hionesty will get you further than threats or lack of commitment.
discordians dont generally take discordianism or any religion too seiously. discordians and chaotes (chaos magick practioners) tend to vibe well together.

Brother Ian, you are 169% correct. The Discordian Society fnord absolutely does not exist, and is certainly not behind the recent sudden resurgence in exorcisms performed by the Catholic church, nor did it play any role in the ascendancy of the Tea Party, nor are we the ones who are keeping Sarah Palin on every channel on TV.
Gemneye, the way I see it, a distinction needs to be made between the map and the territory. The Prinicipia Discordia and any other holy book we encounter are just maps. Metaphors even. I can't speak for all Discordians, but I do take seriously the things for which the metaphors stand, even though the metaphors themselves are dated jokes.

I agree with you completely. the jokes may be outdated though the metaphors are still relevent. i found eris while studying chaos magick. the studies continue, the practice continues and the relationship gets stronger. when eris yanks down your drawers and leaves you bare @ssed you know the relationship is getting better.
i'm just amazed at discordians in the woodwork i've found here. I've never encountered others; i'm glad to have met all y'all in here in this place.
