|
|
I've recently been piecing together my most recent of past lives based upon attitudes and beliefs that run to my core, but don't seem to have a real source stemming from my current incarnation. Along with these I have a distinct dream which I can only explain as a residual memory from that past life leaking over into my present state of consciousness.
The dream was short, but but basically I found myself in the body of an American soldier in what I believe to be the Gulf War. I'm in full combat uniform with an assault rifle in hand, sitting in a helicopter coming down for a drop in the desert. I recall thinking, "How the hell did I get into this situation?!" Strangely enough, I can't tell whether that's what I, the dreamer/observer, was thinking or if that's what I was thinking at the time of the experience's original occurrence.
I also feel that my avoidance of religious dogmas and limiting spiritual beliefs stems from this life. In addition to all this I struggled with the looming shadow of death throughout my childhood, ending around puberty after being surviving an incident in which a friend accidentally shot me in the chest with a small caliber rifle. Thankfully I haven't been in too much danger of randomly dying for quite some time!
Anyways, does anyone else have any memory of their past lives? Or, at least, an intuitive feeling that some of their defining characteristics have been, in part, a product of experiences in a past life? |

Personally, I only have a knowing of who I was in one past life, but I have no attached memories from that life.
Past lives were lives we lived to get us to the current point of spiritual development. Not all the lives have extreme relevance with our surrent lives. Many lives are circumspect and hold no major spiritual trait that we bring into this current lifetime, but all hold some keys to our development.
You are, right now in this incarnation, the culmination of all those lives you lived before. In simple form, it is similar to progressing grades in school. To move ahead spiritually, it is not always the best thing to look backwards. This is not to disencourage your endeavors, merely an observation. What came before is what makes you what and who you are now. What you will become is based on the decisions you make now.
My remembrance of who I was plays a factor in this life and what I know I am to do at some point down the road, but it is way too difficult to get into here. If you are experiencing past life memories, some of it could be due to a process that you need to clear before advancing. Any past or current life negative detritus you carry can serve as an impediment to your development.
You sound as if you are facing your fears. The next step is to overcome them. |

Thanks for the advice. I feel as though I've learned what I needed to from that life and I can now accept what happened and the effects that it has had on me. I don't know if I mentioned this in my post but it was quite some time ago that I re-experienced that memory. |

Not every past life is open to us, perhaps becasue as Martouk says they are not relevant to this life. Some are easier to re-experience and re-open others are locked tight until the right time. There's something very powerful about the dream sequence I think |

yeah i took a vow of non-violence after that. I actually wore a peace sign necklace for like 3 years straight because of the way that dream made me feel about killing and war. I probably overlooked the effects a bit seeing as how I was only 16 at the time and not too into the things i am now. |
