In the past year, I have gained 30 pounds. Last summer I had a mystery stomach illness and my doctor prescribed me zegerid. I went through 2 treatments or 2 weeks total. During this time I wasn't eating very much. When I stopped the medication I was better, but now I'm gaining weigh faster and faster. I don't eat a lot of food, no soft drinks or candy and I'm more active now than I've been in years. Yet in a month I gained 10 pounds. My doctor said nothing was wrong, I just needed to exercise more, eat less.
Well, I'd already been doing this with the opposite result. Should I eat more unhealthy food and live a more sedentary lifestyle?
Can anyone offer any tips or help me out? Its driving me absolutely nuts.

Read the article on Cinnamon and Honey in this forum. There's a paragraph there on weight loss. I dont know how accurately it applies to you but you can try it.

I doubt very much that working out less and eating more will do you any good for weight loss. Very counterproductive.

Besides sugar, grains and high-fat meat cause weight gain. Vegetables and fruits. Drink water. Eat celery for a snack (its negative caloric value is debatable, but its unlikely that it will cause you to gain weight). Eat three meals a day, skipping won't help. Don't eat before bed; have an early dinner. Classic meal sizes are also skewed. Breakfast should be LARGE, lunch MEDIUM and "dinner" SMALL.

Also, is your weight actually unhealthy? Honestly, to properly determine healthy weight, we'd need to know your age, sex, height, and weight. It's understandable if you don't want to share that much information, though, so use one of the many online charts available.

If you're male and working out, it's possible that you're gaining weight from muscle. Muscle is denser than fat, after all.
