Story and question about cats

Have not seen any pet stories in here, but since pets were listed as being able to receive healing energy and both our cats adore getting energy work ... here's what I call a little miracle cat story, and there's a question at the end.

First some history: Even since our Main Coon cat came to live with us six years ago, he and the Calico have not gotten along. They tolerate each other but there are occasional fights and the fighting is not pretty. One time the Maine Coon had a nickel-sized scab on his back and we took him to the vet. She said, "Looks like a cat bite." So you can see, these fights have hit some aggressive levels.

I've tried energy work, meditation, talking to the cats and nothing seemed to get through to them. But tee hee, that may have changed.

Two weeks ago I found a website that said for any pet problems to appeal to Archangel Auriel because that angel oversees nature/pets/plants and so forth. I read that Auriel also oversees plant/animal devas, which are lesser angels assigned to specific plants or animals. Further instructions said to ask Auriel to put you in touch with the animal's deva, so you could appeal for help from both Auriel and the cat devas. Then you simply make your request.

I said I'd like the cats to know my husband and I love them dearly, that we are sorry to the Calico for bringing home another cat but he had been just like her, dumped in the country and like her, needed a home. Also wanted the Maine Coon to know that we are sorry the Calico has not liked him, that we hope they will just be able to live together without fighting because we don't want either of them to get hurt. Results were immediate but then tapered off so I kept praying. Found out that the Maine Coon was not the only instigator of fighting; the Calico was apparently setting him up, encouraging him to look like the bad guy.

Anyway, the little miracle story ... three nights ago the Maine Coon and the Calico slept in their kitty-beds by the heater in the family room. Nothing unusual about that except their beds were pushed together so that the cats' ears were touching! Now, both cats never sleep in the beds when they are pushed that close to each other ... NEVER. And, they never let any parts of themselves touch the other cat, unless they are fighting.

The cats slept like that for four hours and part of the time the Maine Coon had one front paw resting on the Calico's back. That is something that has never happened before either. Spouse and I saw all of this and we could hardly believe it. After four hours spouse gave the furry delights their night time snack and after they ate, they both got back in their beds, ears touching again!

Now question:
Does anyone have suggestions on other ways to communicate with cats, promote harmony among them? It seems I have a pretty good handle on this now, but always interesting to find out how other people handle situations, to get other perspectives.

Thanks!

What? No one has anything to share. Drat. Well, here's another curious cat episode.

I volunteer for hospice, am a "friendly visitor." On Monday morning I got a call that my Tuesday fellow was passing. Such a dear man. I only got to visit with him for four months but it's easy to love someone dearly in that amount of time. Anyway, I spent much of Monday and yesterday sitting with "Mike." He was not in a coma but was no longer talking or opening his eyes but we were pretty sure he could hear us.

Anyway, after being with Mike on Monday, I came home and my husband told me, "Puck (our cat) seems depressed." Indeed, the usually rambunctious fellow was looking rather listless. We went through the checklist ... eating enough, drinking water ... there was nothing we could find to account for the 'depression.'

Yesterday morning was the same with the cat and I went off to sit with Mike again. Then I had another volunteer commitment and when I returned for night duty with Mike, he had passed. It was all quite sad but sweet too because he had lived in that nursing home for many years and there was so much love for him that you could feel it in the air. When I got home, Puck was still seeming depressed and rather tentative. So I just went to him and said, "Hey, buddy, now I've got some time." We had a session of play and attention and within seconds he was back to his old self and has remained that way today.

What I don't know is if the cat was depressed because he could feel my mood (although I didn't feel depressed about Mike, sad ... but not depressed) or if the cat was depressed because he wasn't getting as much attention. Am thinking it's a little of both. ???

Hi Parula, thanks for this thread. I'm a brand-new member, and I was looking for something that I knew something about to start with Smile

About your second post: maybe your cat appeared out of sorts because your attention was somewhere else, even when you were checking him out. Maybe he just went off and did his own thing. My cats get like that when I'm immersed in something that doesn't concern them - or they don't think it does. If it goes on too long (more than a few hours at a time), they too will appear despondent and may even quit eating. They know when I'm focussed on something important and serious, and then they don't come asking for attention. They seem to just go inside themselves and wait.

They are the most sensitive cats I've ever had; one of them tends to get sick whenever I'm very concerned about someone or some serious matter. I have to make sure I don't take energy from him even if he offers it but rather give what I can to him.

I will use the ideas in your first post to see if I can't get some better harmony going in my place. My guys don't get along at times - and they're twin BROTHERS who were both rescued from almost certain death! But they're very different in temperament. With them it's a (male? but they're neutered) territorial matter, and it causes real trouble at times. But then I'll see them washing each other as they did as kits, and they are always very protective of each other; so there is lots of love there. I've talked and talked to them about this, individually and together, so it's time for something else.

OOPS forgot.

Would you please let me know what site mentioned AA in connection with cats, or PM me with it? Thanks!
