I am Presently a Final year student of Bachelor of production engineering at Jadavpur university, kolkata, India . My campus placements is due to start from next month and will continue to April, 2013. My stream is a Core engineering stream and so both Information technology firms in software and automobile, steel and aluminium manufacturing, power companies in core branch along with some consulting firms recruit engineers from our stream. Last year i got a job in an Information technology firm but lost it as i could not clear all the subjects of the pre - final year but this year everything is clear and i am completely eligible to appear for campus placements. I have a grade of 6.45 on a scale of 10. How do you see my chances of getting a good job in the coming months preferably in the core branch?

I see a gathering of skills and talents and an opportunity to show marked improvements in exams and in placement interviews and one-on-one consultations. Any sign of improvement and dedication will work to your favor. It will be highly competitive but you may have some advantages many others do not-- but don't take things for granted. Continue to develop your resume and credentials and continue to look for ways of showcasing your skills and talents and look for as many advantages and competitive edges as you can.

You must take yourself seriously and make some very mature and serious decisions if you wish to be taken seriously and get the favorable outcome you wish for yourself. Start researching possible positions and companies now to find those that may be most compatible with your education background. Look to build partnerships and look to match your skills with their needs. The more you have to offer, the better of course. You have to have the means to deliver reliably and consistantly and be able to prove you are more a professional than just another student fresh out of university. Find the qualities that will make you stand out.
