Hello
I am new round here and instead of simply saying hello I thought I would ask a question at the same time.
Up until about 12 years ago I was on a path of gaining intellectual learning without actually experiencing what I had learnt. For the last 12 years I have walked a more physical path and tried to avoid books. However the internet keeps drawing me back to more ethereal matters.
I have chosen to experience and learn who I am by undertaking physical activities such as walking, climbing and being among all the elements that the weather can throw at me. I have pushed myself to my physical limits on more than one occasion in the hope of finding what makes me tick. And, as some of you will understand, I haven't all ways liked what I have seen.
I now feel that the time is approaching where I can blend my physical path with an inward journey in the quest for enlightenment. To do this I need to raise some energy without actually performing any physical exercise, embrace it and learn from it. I feel that the best way to do this is through listening to rhythmical music.
So, to cut a long story short, can anybody recommend any good percussion music which will help me? I am very interested in drums. For me they have a primitive yet powerful hypnotic pull which I want to tap into. I’m sort of after an African tribal style of music but don’t know of any groups or bands to ask for in my local music shops.
I am not just after music to help raise energies and I would be grateful for any suggestions, techniques or organisations which will help me to raise and refine what ever I achieve.

including the tom-tom drum. This is American Inidan Rock Opera~AIRO from the Brule, South Dakota native indians. This music brought tears to my eyes while listening to in person. It is pretty much all instrumental.

psytrance or goa... puts me into a zone....
its usually around 145bpm which produces the same brainwave cycles as meditation...
you can stream it at www.shoutcast.com with winamp
just input goa in the search bar... might take about 10 minutes to get immersed but then you'll fall into the trance and wont be able to turn it off |
