My question is this:

While I've always tended creative and had a mystical/spiritual side to myself I've rarely ever had anything that I'd be able to call a distinct psychic experience in my life. I've been told by psychics often that I'm an incredibly old soul (could mean I'm an ancient Peter Griffin - I prefer to tell myself that I'm just picky about lives), that I was already initiated in a past life, and that I have a lot of potential.

As of right now I'm on the self development path and am trying to figure out my best order of operation. One of my toughest tendencies to break through is I'm very left-brained, which I hear can get in the way of contacting guides and ascended masters that may be aiding us. My goal is to begin contacting my Source. As I've waded through a lot of material in the past few months though I'm confronted with a few questions. I've been working affirmations to bolster my energy as well as trying to open root through solar plexus chakra that have been somewhat closed. As I do this I'm wondering what to expect - ie. how long it will take and how much of which exercises I will need to get involved in before I can have what I know to be solid two-way communication. Additionally I've heard about soul mates and while I'm a little hesitant on how much I'd want to drag one into my life I wonder if she would be easier to contact for starts than my source, and if I could spur her in her own life toward awakening if that might help vault both of us up.

Again, I'm quite green with this in a lot of ways and any pointers would be great. Smile

Also, have any of you seen someone like myself, ie. nearly tone-deaf on the psychic radar, be able to come into these types of communications? If so how long does it seem to take and what kind of adjustments did they need to go through in order to get to where they needed to go?

Wow, something I'll throw out here - Youtube's an incredibly educational thing as well. Seeing a Lilou Mace interview with Dianne McKinnon opened my eyes to the realization that if I want to talk to spirit guides or anyone in my source group, the first line of it is a bit like off-the-cuff imagination.

If I understand what happened right I laid down, took some pointers from people here in other threads to ask my guardian angel to patch me in with my source group and keep the cosmic muppets from prank responding. When I did get the right spirit guide I avoided asking for a name, mainly that I was still a bit shaky on requesting anything that specific as I just wanted clear information and understanding of self. The way it seemed to work for me was that I'd feel a gentle energy coming in through the top of my head, and while something like this could have felt as if it were my own imagination further back in my life and me answering my own questions I could tell, from that gentle inward flow of energy, that my speech center, ideas, and word choices were being guided by that inflow - ie. when I chose the wrong words or started override the signal I felt it immediately.

The art of tuning in to this kind of thing reminds me of when I'd be driving a friend somewhere who was real mechanically inclined. I'd just hear engine noise as I drove, they'd hear a whole symphony of bearings, belts, and in general they'd be able to tell about five or six things apart where I'd just hear one. It seems like learning to communicate with guides or other dimensions is a lot like that (at least at the basic level) -
taking apart a big mass of signals and being able to tell what's what.

I'd be curious to know how much farther this can be taken in the long run though. I got the impression that there are some people here who've had experiences like being taken by their guides aurally and visually on etheric field trips. That sounds like it would be a blast and I'd love to bring them in at 4G clarity or better. Is that just a further expansion of the same listening process?
