Hi everyone. My original nickname is haywire and if there are old members around you will recognize this nickname.
I feel welcome again on this board after such a long journey elsewhere.
I'd like to get into practise but my concern in this: I haven't been able to meditate or do any psionic, psychic or mental work in the last 9 years... I've searched for the reason though. But 9 years.... is crushing. And it is no lie.
I was hoping in finding someone who has had a similar period and recovered from it, to lean how they did it. I have great respect for you folks here, but this problem has shred my soul. If anyone has any idea how to get back to visualizing, I'd pay you all money I have for that.
Currently under the influence of a some alcohol, but, I wish to remain honest. If anyone knew what is wrong... that would save my life and I'd be forever greatful and in your service. You have my word for this. |

We all have read about the benefits of meditation and just want to get started. Meditation can bring life lasting advantages. You might have tried to sit once in a while, but never had a clear picture of what to do when and how to progress.
I suggest to start with a simple posture and some preparation. I will recommend everyone to start developing a strong a single focus meditation practice first. During the meditation, try to concentrate on the physical, bare, sensations of the breath. This will be your object of your focus. If you don’t develop a strong equanimity (non-volatile awareness) first, then you will be easily distracted when trying out insight meditation.
Sit in a comfortable position, breathe in deeply and pull your shoulders up to your ears. Then pull them backwards and downwards while breathing out. Do it slowly and with awareness. Push your shoulders out to the front and then upwards while inhaling. Do this circle progression 5 times with deep inhalations and exhalations. Start with 5 minutes twice a day. Move up to 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes twice a day. |
