Does any one know of the practice of conceiling a shoe or shoes in a house, say under a chimney or in the wall or up in the attic?
This has been the topic of conversation on another forum I belong to concerning footwear.
I think June Swann the noted English shoe historian first discussed it in about 1966.
There are many cases recorded in the UK and a few in the US. I was wondering if anyone here would be able to shed more light on the practice, perhaps someone involved in wican or casting spells.
Best regards
Bilbo.

To the best of my knowledge, the only good reason to conceal a shoe is to protect it from theft if said shoe were covered in diamonds or gold.
Unless "conceil" is a magical term I'm unfamiliar with. You did mean "conceal," as in, "to hide," though, right?

well i'm not an expert on this subject by any means, but it's pretty common knowledge that witches, shamans, etc. can imbue an item with certain properties. an example of this would be cursed seeds sown across a road that cause harm to those who trample upon them. I saw a movie called "Naked Lunch" recently. In one scene, a character begins finding strange items hidden in the soil of potted plants. He reports to the rooms inhabitants that the woman who had been cleaning the house was a notorious witch.
the item doesn't necessarily reveal the purpose of its use but items being hidden in a house for dubious reasons is not unheard of.
