(Hopefully this goes here.)
I have recently found a document that, while I am not willing to share, shows how to dowse without a pendulum, or anything else.
I will describe this to the best of my ability.
First up, put your index finger and thumb together and start rubbing them.
Second, ask your question.
Third, notice the change of friction between the fingers, or if there is any stickiness.
A change of friction to make the rubbing slower usually signifies a negative answer, while the speeding up of rubbing signifies a positive answer.
This way, you can dowse without a pendulum, or anything else.
Enjoy!

Hmm, very interesting. I have tried it lightly, and it seems to work pretty well. However, I've found that it is much more prone to emotional interferance than pendulum dowsing. Thanks for the tecnique.

I have had success with dowsing this way but for me it works like the stick pad. No stick is "NO". A stick is "YES". And yea, it is WAAAAAY more subject to what you want than what is.

Yes, I've found this is a good bit less accurate than pendulum or rod dowsing. I'm pretty sure it's because the feeling is very much subject to interpretation by the dowser whereas the direction a pendulum swings is pretty definite.

Some think that the stickpad is by far the best, easiest and most accurate in getting a YES or NO. Likewise, you can dowse on any flat surface that creates friction between your thumb and the surface. A wooden table, that has some coating on it should do. The dowsing method is exactly the same as with the stickpad (which is part of a radionic box usually).
Dowsing with the pendulum, I think that not everyone gets the same answers with a horizontal and vertical swing. First you need to calibrate it.
Here is how: Think in your mind something, that is true, for example, ask yourself "does 2+2 equal 4", just hold the pendulum still and it will swing either way (horizontally or vertically), this defines your YES - answer. The other is no. If the pendulum doesn't swing in either direction, it often means "neutral" or "yes and no" -> "don't know".
You should read the psionics books written by C.Cosimano , they are very good if you want to learn those things.
