Could anyone explain to me what white magic and black magic is

ok you have too many people throwing these ideas around these days. I have a theory white magic is all to do with balance and nature and using your "skills" for the good of everyone and everything and not personal gain black magic is all for self gain or other reasons leading to self gratification but the blow back could harm you or be potentially fatal

Magic in itself is neither black nor white. It is what you do with it that makes it one or the other.

These are fine philosophically but the terms were coined based on mainly the energy source rathee than intent. Darkness is very commonly used for both good and bad but using it is what one calls black magic. White magic involves using the light, which is less easy to utillize than it's counterpart, largely due to dark spirits' opposition and the intoxication and ease of using dark energy.

Yeah, it's a very common viewpoint and even appears in some canonical works of various systems. Though it is upheld by most that white and black uphold their respective ends of doing good or evil, for others or for ones self.
