I've seen a few abysses...abyssi? Lol whatever. And well I was just wondering if anyone had other info on them I haven't heard. Basically they tend to act as a dark magnet and an area of displaced light, i.e darkness, and can be found near the center of your everyday local demon set up. Crowley refers to it a number of times in his work as the gap between normal perception and total consciousness, and is full on mind fuck torture. Though that could have been the drugs. Another enochian work says at full force, the experience evolves into what can only be called the perception of voidness; the negation, the removal of any being or value from absolutely everything perceptible, both internal being or value from absolutely everything perceptible, both internal and external. The intensity of this voidness can not be adequately described. At this stage the paranoia sometimes returns, causing the magician to perceive the voidness as an all-consuming malevolent entity. Giving in to this paranoia, struggling to avoid being devour- ed, brings one on to the path of those whom Crowley calls the Black Brothers, or Sons Of Darkness. If one does not struggle, that which perceives is itself absorbed into the void and another condition supervenes for which goes beyond description. These can be created through black magick and of coarse demons. Or through amateurs basically playing with fire as they do best. There's probably a white art or two with the ritual to close one, and I know some direct Light could do the trick as it so often does with things of the dark nature. Anyone aware of any rumors of other ways to close one? I'm doing research on the matter for a pupil of lesser skill in the divine wrath department. Muchas gracias, amigos.

Guess that's a negative. Anywho if anyone encounters this problem all one needs is a good deal of energy via light and the know how to use it. So if you don't have a lamp this isn't a dark room to enter, so to speak.

is what you are talking about for an "Abyss" a concentration of dark and negative energies, or as in the actual meaning of the word being a void of all things and a point of non-existence?

Both have been called an abyss but I was specifically workin on closing a gate of dark energy.

umm, then the best thing besides light energy is finding what's holding the gate open and anchored to this plane and try to either disrupt it, use it to close it off or destroy it

well in the O.T.O./A.:.A (or however the Order of the Silver Star's acronym goes...) books that i've been reading in order to attain to the highest of rankings one must successfully "cross" the abyss whilst avoiding becoming one of the Sons of Darkness.

In the book "One Star in Sight" from "Gems from the Equinox" I found this passage:

"The Order of the S. S. is composed of those who have crossed the Abyss; the
implications of this expression may be studied in Liber 418, the 14th, 13th, 12th,
11th, 10th, and 9th Aethyrs in particular. "

Liber 418 is "The Vision and the Voice" by the way

Yeah but using The Light is most effective for destroying such things, it didn't stand a chance when I got to it. Mostly what holds it down is some demonic works or spells so breaking them will close it but to keep it gone they have to be taken care of as well.

Those could work but in practice the best approach is to get down to the ones that made it and destroy them and it. Once it's been picked apart in the right way with the light of creation, as in with a good deal to ensure total annihilation, it won't be comin open anytime soon. This is considered supreme for it can't be undone by demons or dark practioners. There are ways to undo any other form of cutting it off.
