I am getting a better picture of this. Deva as the consciousness behind the formation of matter, in a way? When I find that a "soul" is in a crystal, it might just be a different label for "deva", based on my current mode of awareness? Like soul for me is what you would call ensouled?
Do they end up in their "position" as a result of our free will, for instance in manufacturing, or might there be a feedback system where they can influence us to move towards creating forms for them?
Sorry if I ask a lot of weird questions, your comments take a while to fully sink in and make more sense for me. I have to look at everything from a different angle. I kind of assume that understanding could lead to more awareness and possibly even a point where I may someday "see" them.

A deva is Not the consciousness behind the formation of matter. The consciousness comes from an intention of a higher realm. If the intention for a creation is to become, for instance a tulip, a deva is created to supervise, tend and love that particular tulip from it's inception and materialization to complete maturity.
Yes, everything is ensouled as everything is the creation of a soul, and everything has it's purpose.
When we enlist the cooperation of devas and work with them with kindness and love, one can expect efforts toward any project to be greatly enhanced.

Can you recommend any books on this that would be accurate according to your understanding? I will hopefully have time to read soon, and have been collecting a lot of sources in preparation.

Many books have been written on the subject of devas and you can find them most anywhere. I started with some of them many years ago and found that everyone had their own ideas about them, some being totally contradictory to the others. At that point I enlisted my Source for the real scoop.
I have utilized this information and expanded upon that basic knowledge with much success. It is not that difficult if one has the proper attitudes, goals and desires. So my friend I do not have any book recommendations for you. I suggest you work on being in the universal energy flow, and maximize your intuitive ability. You evidently
use it all the time anyway.

I was looking at my collection of books which are still in boxes and found some of the Perelandra books, "Behaving as if the God in All Life Mattered" is one of them. If I where to recommend any books it would be Perelandra.
